Bruh i know Bear is NOT innocent. That’s literally my point. My post was partly a response to all the people acting like he didn’t know better. Im mentioning the short intro because i think it created a sort of primacy effect on stupid ppl who still defend Bears actions
erv@perseph1n

One of the most haunting things about this film is how they portrayed Bear as this innocent awkward guy who just wants to be loved by his crush, when in reality he’s actually pretty selfish. I hate that the introduction was so short because they jumped straight into the wish/ …

@Strodale Understanding a film and wanting more from it aren’t mutually exclusive. I understood the film just fine. My post was mainly a response to all the people reducing Bear to an awkward guy who “couldn’t know better”.

@ervadrx I think it’s great you managed to watch the film and still not know what you’re looking at but hey to each their own. If you needed 30 minutes to figure out their personalities then I think you might just be too slow for the movie. He wasn’t portrayed as anything like that

@LemonYego Yeah ur right and i really liked how it progressed overall. I don’t mean making him obviously evil from the start, just a few more subtle moments that would’ve added extra depth to his character. Not that his character lacked it. I just think there was room for even more of it.

@ervadrx Nice speech, but the whole point of the plot was to unravel just how horrible bear is as the story progresses If we knew bear was awful from the start it wouldn’t be as good

@Raize_nix No ur right. Im just pissed off at the audacity of Bear. I found it funny as well i laughed in multiple scenes bc of how uncomfy or weird some things were

@ervadrx The movie wouldn't have worked if Bear was some extremely evil character it would have became an average horror slop, the fact the Bear was a regular dude who was insecure and made bad after bad decisions that's why the movie was good and imo it was funny too

@ervadrx I thought that was on purpose on the same way we don't see much of Nikki to represent how little Bear knew of her OG version. Bear thinks he's a victim and doesn't think twice about it so we see that.

@Raize_nix I agree. It was clear to me too. But because of the short introduction, it also left room for the “maybe he just didn’t know better” interpretation (which is also needed actually). I just think it would’ve added more depth if we saw him act like that in other settings too.

@ervadrx The quick intro is good, I don’t need to be spoon fed every detail of the character let me work out how big of a worm this guy is myself rather than putting the writing on the wall

I just know that if Bollywood came up with the idea of Obsession they would have given it a happy ending for the incel audience where he pulls her out of the trance with the power of his true love and then the real nicky sees him sorry and repent and ends up falling for him
