NYC and LA are the same...but "anywhere" in the US is a bit of a stretch. I don't have that feeling in my day to day activities, but I'll avoid big cities

@andrea_spook To be fair, this is how I lived in Paris and London. Cape Town is no different. And I would rather be in Cape Town than anywhere in the States.

Even in the safest areas, there’s always that instinct to look over your shoulder. Years later, living in the United States, I still catch myself scanning my surroundings when I go for a run. It’s no longer just situational awareness, it’s an ingrained anticipation of the worst. The hardest part is that, in South Africa, those fears aren’t irrational. Even in the safest neighborhoods, there’s an underlying reality of danger that’s difficult to ignore. I wish them eternal rest. I’m deeply sorry they had to endure such unimaginable violence.

This one seems to be going places so I'll just say a few things about myself. I'm a German citizen with an American fiancee that's eventually gonna move to Germany. I'm increasingly concerned about the direction the USA is moving into. I'm an atlanticist and I really hope that Europe and the US are gonna be able to normalize their relations again in a post Trump world. We people in Europe know that the next 2.5 years are gonna be difficult but we know that better times are coming.

Endangered Juvenile Reported Missing in Lake County, Florida Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing and endangered juvenile last seen Sunday morning. A friend asked me how we are doing in America, I told him we are doing great, we can have a social with friends without permanently looking over our shoulders. My wife is happy and safe, nobody wants to murder us just because we are White. Every problem here has a solution! 😁

We have a massive physician shortage—especially in primary care. The backlog is real, and patient volumes are out of control. (Ask anyone trying to get an appt with a PCP) IMGs are essential. We’re lucky they choose to come here and care for patients. Posts like this aren’t concern—they’re overtly racist.
