I reject the phrase “Apartheid South Africa”. That’s like saying “segregation America” or “slavery Roman Empire”. Apartheid is not all that happened in the country between 1948 and 1994. In “pre-94 South Africa”: - Christiaan Barnard performed the world’s first heart transplant in 1967. - Sasol pioneered coal-to-liquids technology for synthetic fuels and energy independence. - The country developed nuclear weapons and voluntarily dismantled them before 1994, also building Koeberg nuclear power plant. - It innovated defense systems like the G5 howitzer, under an arms embargo. - Had a RSA rocket program that targeted satellite launches. - Became sub-Saharan Africa’s most industrialized economy. - Etc.
