I've listed him before as well as you know, but I think Berge and Stach fill more of the defensive side even though Stach is playing a bit higher at leeds. I do value the PL proven side but am definitely open to Burger as well in the rebuild options. I haven't watched enough of Burger in other seasons to really say much about his past years.

Bernal and Chema are special players in this mold. Been banging the drum for Chema all season, definitely one I would encourage taking a chance on.
Otherwise, Berge and Stach are some names I’d consider to have in the mix too (but not linked).
Need some size at MUFC in midfield.

I'm a huge fan of Marc Bernal. His profile as a midfielder is genuinely rare, you don't often see someone with his height combined with that level of technical security. Reads the game well, receives cleanly under pressure, and has the physical frame to dominate duels without sacrificing mobility. In deeper/advanced roles, he carries himself like someone who understands space and timing. That blend of size and composure on the ball isn't common, especially at his age. If he stays fit, he's got the tools to be a serious presence in any midfield.

@analyzingfutbol Burger is also very strong in the air, which Stach isn't. Burger seems basically the same quality all round as Stach, but younger+cheaper+more what Utd need stylistically. On all the stats sites I can view, Burger always ranks near the top for players similar to Casemiro.

funnily enough exactly the same as Stach was last season at Hoffenheim.
This season in the PL Stach at 68th %ile is slightly higher than Berge (62nd)

@SwedishRumble I've been saying ever since Utd were first linked to him that's he's not physically up to Utd's midfield. Even from the eye test he is too slow+weak, and a passenger defensively. He's like the German Wharton, but at least Wharton still has time to get more robust.

How big of an issue is this?
I love so many aspects of Stiller’s game. But especially in recovery situations, he can look very slow. His top speed in the Bundesliga ranks him 418 of 488 players that have logged time in the Bundesliga this season.
But I am not very familiar with this stat, is it a problem to have that low top speed? Is it a precise stat?

Tonali would be the better option. Possibly a bit more expensive but Bruno turns 29 this year while Tonali is only 25.

Did some rough calculations & expect Tonali to cost £88m— is he worth that as a package?
He cost Newcastle £53m in 2023— PL-proven tax adds on a lot.
For reference:
Caicedo— £24m > £100m
Lavia— £19m > £54m
Onana— £34m > 49m
Maddison— £22m > £40m.
He’d be £76m absolute minimum.

I think Sandro Tonali is a little overrated by the masses Obviously a good player, with excellent engine But think his limitations IP, especially with his back to goal rule him out as an option at DM for a top 6 club
