HEAVY THUNDERSTORM ALERT FOR NORTH AP TODAY ⚠️ Clouds over South AP giving best signs for rains to get started over North #AndhraPradesh around late-afternoon time. #Visakhapatnam city suburbs, Anakapalle, Pendurthi has excellent chances for a good thunderstorm. Later on Srikakulam - Vizianagaram - Parvathipuram too has great chances. Vizag city Airport side - Simhachalam - NAD belt has good chances but less on core city areas like Dwaraka Nagar, Jagadamba due to poor steering winds. Evening isolated thunderstorms ahead for few parts of Nellore, Tirupati, Prakasam and Godavari districts. They can see rains only at few places, but North AP will be on a widespread mode today.

Rain ahead for parts of #Vijayawada city during this evening. Rain bands parked close to the Khammam area are entering NTR district. During the next 2 hours, rains and thunderstorms are possible in NTR (including Vijayawada), Palnadu and parts of Guntur district. Another powerful thunderstorm will hit Srikakulam - Vizianagaram belts during next 1 hour ⚠️

Seasonal rainfall in #India now stands at a deficiency of -28% from normal. Next week is crucial for east and central India when usually monsoon rains cover these core monsoon zones. In absence of low pressure of area from bay the progress of monsoon untill 22nd June will remained stalled. Rainfall deficiency will further go up to -35 to -40%. My personal opinion is Monsoon still is sticking along Rayalaseema and South Karnataka and didn't evolve beyond that. Still Telangana and Central AP itself are yet to see Monsoon onset.

#Kurnool city can see a spell of HEAVY DOWNPOUR for next 30-40 minutes and then it will reduce. Meanwhile severe storms developing over North of #Anantapur district will affect Anantapur city tonight. Rayalaseema under action by the Monsoon entry.

#Tirupati city got Heavy rains during afternoon and this huge stretch of cloud is absolutely moving into many parts of Rayalaseema and South Coastal AP. In next 2-3 hours, parts of Annamayya district, Satya Sai, Nellore and YSR Kadapa district (including Kadapa city) can see good spell of rains. ⚠️

Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall lashed #Vijayawada overnight with lot of places recording nearly 90-110 mm rains. These type of rains are uncommon during June itself. Gunadala recorded 102 mm during overnight is just crazy. Probably due to intense heat, the rains remained on higher side.

HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS AND RAINS AHEAD FOR CENTRAL AP DURING TONIGHT ⚠️⚠️ The Monday storms missed #Vijayawada and now this storm looks even more perfect to enter into the city and bang with heavy rains. During next 2-3 hours, rains and thunderstorms will increase along entire Ubhaya Godavari districts (Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Eluru, Bhimavaram) and then after 9 pm will spread into cities like Vijayawada and #Guntur. Good rains ahead during tonight and enjoy the respite. Districts on alert : NTR, West Godavari, East Godavari, Kakinada, Konaseema, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla.

Update -2 for Vijayawada city ⚠️⚠️ One of the most powerful storm of the year is placed perfectly over #Vijayawada and it will pelt down VERY HEAVILY over the city strong thunderstorms and lightning. Requesting people to stay indoors till 9:45 pm as it clears out. Guntur has to be in alert from 9:30 pm onwards.
