HEAT WAVE TO GRIP OVER COASTAL ANDHRA PRADESH DURING THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK: With Bay of Bengal Low Pressure giving up on rapid strengthening, its destined to die in open waters in next 5 days or moving towards Myanmar / Thailand coast. This can higher the chances of HEAT WAVE due to Westerlies (Winds from West) over #AndhraPradesh particularly Coastal AP (Vizag - Godavari - Vijayawada - Guntur - Nellore / Tirupati regions) during the course of this weekend and next week. There is an increase in probability for rains over Rayalaseema induced due to the current low pressure moving into our state as circulation causing some good spells of rain during 3rd week of May (Next week). But however for now it remains 50-50, I will update once there are good consensus on the event.

New May spark plumes show El Niño rapidly intensifying, with 8 of 10 models pointing to a super event and four projecting the strongest on record. Across all 693 ensemble members, the mean reaches +2.8˚C, consistent with the strongest El Niño on record.

Scattered light to moderate rains during next 2 days across Coastal parts of our state: The circulation over Sri Lanka is gaining momentum and is likely to turn into a low pressure in the next 72 hours. Once the low forms we can have a better clarity on where it will move and impact. Next 3 days, there will scattered light to moderate rains over South Coastal AP (#Tirupati and #Nellore) during early Morning times, followed by a Scattered Moderate thundershowers along Chittoor, Annamayya districts during Afternoon/Early-evening time. Today and tomorrow the rainfall activity over North Andhra (#Vizag region) and Central Andhra (#Vijayawada - Godavari region) will see a dip (Reduction) and increase a bit around Monday once the Low forms over Bay of Bengal. I will observe and keep you posted with latest information regarding system formation, once a better clarity establishes.

Rainfall Alert ⚠️⚠️: Next 1-2 hours, HIGH CHANCES for scattered Thunderstorms to affect parts of Central AP mainly Krishna, NTR, Eluru, Interior regions of West Godavari district to see Sudden bursts of rains. Rains will not be for more time, but last for 10-20 minutes. ⚠️

Intense moisture loaded easterlies have triggered #Tirupati and adjoining Chittoor district belts which will eventually increase rains and thunderstorms over West #Chittoor, #Annamayya district (Mandanapalle side) during next 2 hours. Meanwhile North AP thunderstorms are getting activated over Araku Hills, it may descend in sometime.

THUNDERSTORM ALERT ⚠️ As it turns evening, Intense Thunderstorms and rains marching along #Rajahmundry - Vizianagaram belts. But as the storms are slow moving, the rains will be heavier in the areas where ever it lands. Next 2-hours, Anakapalle, West parts of Kakinada district will be on a higher side for rains. Tracking the storms developing along Rayalaseema, will update if it organizes pretty well.

Yesterday, the rainfall restricted to few areas over Coastal AP and East Rayalaseema, as there is lack of convection. Today we have super excellent chances for rains to pick up during afternoon, once the heat ramps up over the state. Evening / Night thunderstorms to continue over East Rayalaseema areas like Western side of #Tirupati city, Annamayya, Chittoor, YSR Kadapa and Markapuram districts. During late-afternoon and evening times, thunderstorms and rains are possible in some parts of #Vijayawada city, NTR, Eluru, Krishna, parts of Godavari districts and North Andhra areas like #Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram, Alluri Seetharamaraju. Suburbs and city areas of #Visakhapatnam city can see a passing shower during evening. Kurnool, Anantapur, Sathya Sai districts to remain dry completely with heat entire day.

Heavy Thunderstorm warning for Coastal AP and East Rayalaseema between May 4-7th period.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR COASTAL AP ⚠️⚠️ (4th May to 7th May) Every year in summer, before starting of actual summer, either a trough or cyclone gives much needed rains to AP. Next 3 days, Coastal AP and East Rayalaseema districts will see HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS and Rains due to trough (అల్పపీడన ద్రోణి) across AP - Telangana border, extending into South AP. Districts like Anakapalle, East Godavari, Eluru, Alluri Seetharamaraju can see HEAVY RAINFALL with Thunderstorms during Evening and Night time following a hot day. #Visakhapatnam city to remain under hit or miss during next 3 days, while interiors Anakapalle - Pendurthi - Gajuwaka side can see good evening/night thunderstorms. #Vijayawada - Guntur side can see good rains for the next days with more chances during evening time. #Tirupati, #Nellore and Ongole also has good chances. Rajahmundry - Kakinada has good chances today and even more good chances tomorrow.

Another Day of Evening Thunderstorms ahead in parts of our state ⚠️ Yesterday massive thunderstorms in Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh triggered good rains and hail storms. The similar pattern will continue today too with good heavy rains expected in parts of Chittoor district (Karnataka nearby areas), YSR Kadapa, some parts of #Nellore and Prakasam districts. Western side of #Tirupati city (Chandragiri side) can see some rains during evening. Parts of North and Central AP can see some rains during during evening to night period. Nothing major. Update for May 1st week : Models are strongly suggesting increased rainfall over #Visakhapatnam and North Andhra region from May 2nd onwards while Severe Heat Wave striking South Coastal belt of Tirupati - Nellore - Ongole regions and Heat Wave along East Rayalaseema and Vijayawada - Godavari belts.

THUNDERSTORMS TO KICKSTART OVER PARTS OF RAYALASEEMA AND NORTH ANDHRA REGIONS, GET READY ⚠️ Intense Heatwave for the last 2 weeks is finally going to get some relief as conditions are highly favourable for thunderstorms. For the next 3 days, North Andhra - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram, Alluri, Anakapalle and outskirts of #Visakhapatnam city can see strong thunderstorms during evening and early-night period. On the other side, scattered thunderstorms ahead for entire #Rayalaseema (almost all parts), Western parts of Nellore district (like Rapur-Podalkur side), West Prakasam and Markapuram districts. Next 24 hours (Valid till tomorrow morning 8:30 am): Parts of Kurnool, Anantapuram, Markapuram (Close to Nallamala forests), Parvathipuram, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts can see some evening / night thunderstorms and rains. Temperatures to increase drastically over #AndhraPradesh state particularly South AP and some parts of Godavari districts and areas around #Visakhapatnam due to hotter winds resulting out of drier surface. By 27th April, Nandyala - YSR Kadapa - West Nellore - Tirupati - Chittoor belt can easily record 43 C-45 C and might even increase and spread into coastal AP by April end. Some isolated areas can record upto 46 C. Please drink good water and rely on seasonal fruits as a part of daily diet which will help your health. #Rayalaseema can see some respite due to rains from May 1st but those rains also will be limited to border areas of Karnataka.

Heat zone in Rayalaseema today too, no respite likely anywhere except heat today: Many places across Rayalaseema are recording 41-42 C and its very likely to increase upto 43 C today due to dry winds blowing along the land from South Coastal AP. Especially #Kadapa city and #Kurnool city surroundings can see the highest temperatures in combined Andhra Pradesh state. Tomorrow, even a bit more heat possible. #Visakhpatnam city and surroundings to remain sultry (see the map for your area temperature), while #Tirupati city to remain bone dry with temperatures upto 41 C in the eastern side.
