So @Cappyarmy appears to confirm my theory that the U.S. Expeditionary Force will invade Qeshm Island instead of Kharg Island, to open the Strait of Hormuz.
Secure the airport, land heavy equipment, then invade the mainland, advancing both east & west along the coast of Iran.

I'm starting to think the U.S. is going to invade Qeshm Islandin Iran, more specifically Qeshm International Airport, instead of Kharg Island. There are basically no inhabitants and it's perfect for positioning a massive deployment of air defenses to protect the Strait of Hormuz

I'm astounded by the qualifications of many Iranian ministers & officials. President Masoud Pezeshkian himself, interior minister Eskandar Momeni & foreign minister Abbas Araghchi are highly qualified & are battle hardened veterans with direct combat experience from the Iran-Iraq War. In a long attrition conflict, this is the kind of ruling elite is exactly what you need. In contrast we have bottom of the barrel individuals being appointed to key positions primarily to appease caste based vote banks.

We have DARPA stuff. Developed over years in Ukraine. We keep the best stuff so the Russians don't see it or develop counter measures. You'll see. A logistics base is not a deployed MEU. They'll be armed to the teeth with their own drones, and drone counter measures - far more sophisticated than you can imagine. Enjoy.

Ground operation in Iran would be hell. Cheap FPV drones eliminate a lot of advantages that a developed military and well trained infantry such as American has. And it will be televised.
I have been working with multiple units in Ukraine trying to minimize the impact of cheap fpv and bomber drones on the battlefield. We tried many things, from radars, shotguns, net guns, lasers, EW. Pretty much nothing works, there is no tech that can deterministically eliminate the threat. You can only minimize it, and we aren't talking about 80 percent mitigation, we are talking about 30 percent if you are lucky. Only physical barriers at the positions work effectively.

The thing is I dont think Iran is really prepared for such a scenario because they prioritized long range Drones and not FPV / Fiber optics etc. because they are not in front war situation. If the US troops land which I highly assume they will use their knowledge from Ukraines war they are not stupid they have systems to countrr the threats and they will have loses thats the price but I am confident it wont be a disaster. Only fear is if russia or china keeps supplying them with weapons thats what US and Israel have to stop from happening. Nevertheless no one can predict the future we will see when it happens if it happens.

One advantage the Iranians have is that their entire elite seems to consist of 130 IQ polymath combat veterans with PhDs who stormed across minefields with fixed bayonets surrounded by poison gas back in the day and then spent 30 years studying philosophy, game theory, engineering and military science. Average decision-maker quality appears to be dramatically higher than elsewhere, especially qualified for shit-hits-the-fan situations
