Noel Tata making a mistake in seeking only a 2-year extension for Tata Group chairman Chandrasekaran after his term expires in 2027. Chandra has done a good job in difficult circumstances & deserves a full 5-year extension to 2032 when he turns 70. Noel btw will be 70 this year.

The massive meltdown you are experiencing is just for one reason. The one constant across Chennai theatres to Gurgaon multiplexes - the applause when Modi ji appears on-screen. The left would have thought - 12 years of anti incumbency, and recent LPG/UGC crisis, would have eroded his popularity. But the cheering felt like molten glass in their ears. The crowd was even cheering the demonetisation announcement, the one misstep, which had almost bipartisan consensus of being ineffective, even that was hailed as a triumph in the theatres, helped by the logic provided by the movie. Total destruction of narrative. Sad.

@krishashok @peeleraja Yeah it’s ok to use it now to ease the pressure on L P G and continue to use it to boil milk and stuff for other reasons . Treating it as a complete replacement and singing its benefits is bullshit.. if it was so great why did you not mention it till now ..

@peeleraja But why the strawman assumption that the goal is “everyone must switch to induction”? For the most part, the audience being addressed here are people that can afford it but simply don’t change due to habit friction and lack of awareness of its efficiencies.

Mandatory disclosure: I am a TTK Prestige shareholder. I am also a Power Grid shareholder. I am also an Indian Oil shareholder. a. If everyone shifts to induction, then electricity consumption shoots up and LPG prices fall. In economics, this is called substitution effects. When demand for electricity shoots up, so does the price of electricity per unit. By how much? I am not sure. b. What is the extra load on the power grid when more and more people use induction? I don't have an answer. c. Commercially available induction stoves are good for cooking small amounts of food. Try cooking for a family of 6-8 on an induction stove. d. Gas stoves last for ages. I have seen people use 40 year old gas stoves too. Induction stoves? They last at most 5 years with low usage. With heavy usage 3 times a day, i suspect they will conk off much faster. e. Induction stoves have semiconductor chips in them. The same chips that make your cars and electronic devices. There is already a massive chip shortage globally. f. Remember when demonetization happened and people were told to use Paytm and credit cards? How did that go? Any idea how difficult it is to get a middle aged, or old person, with hundreds of other responsibilities, to suddenly learn to use an induction cooker?
Krish Ashok@krishashok

I’d recommend that anyone that thinks induction stoves are elitist do a little bit of math youtube.com/shorts/veqy539…

Some people are claiming I am making up news about straits being open for my reply to NDTV below. And asserting that they are still closed "by Iran." But reality is Iran now has little say here and ships have started sailing since yesterday as you can see in the graph below. The traffic will only increase. Also, Saudi Aramco will increase oil production soon. So understand when I say something, I am not making up things and my analysis is to the best of my knowledge. Please don't fall for propaganda and fear mongering using your emotions during this war. There's a lot of it going on in India for political and geopolitical purposes. Relax, oil is going to keep coming and it is going to trade at $75 by April, and lower later.
Aravind tweet mediaAravind tweet media
Aravind@aravind

The strait is already open and some piled up ships are moving through. Iran is not able to stop them. Including India bound ships. Oil price has now plunged below $90. Russia is in bed with the US and making a fool of the world. While some disruptions and spikes will happen now and then, by May we will be all good. Not like what Putin allegedly claims as per NDTV.
