@qfint Nice work. Thank you for the data. But can you be kind enough to extrapolate it further & give a column wherein you convert the related strength change into seats as well. So that how 815 divides as per present percentage vs how it will get divided (based 2011) can be compared.

According to media reports, a new constitutional amendment act proposing population based seat adjustment and seat delimitation has been introduced. If 2011 census figures are used as baseline, this is what final seat tally may look like. 1/2

Here is my revised calculation of how the delimitation proposed in the bills today would affect the share of states in the Lok Sabha. The political pattern of losers and gainers maps almost perfectly on areas of BJP’s weakness and strength. Assumptions: Total seats: 850 (of which 35 for UTs). Rest allocated as per population share in Census 2011. The column on Gains/Losses is critical as every state would get more seats in 850 seat house. Here gains and losses are compared to seats every state would have had if their present share was respected: e.g. Kerala would get 23 seats (additional 3) but should have got 31 if its present share was maintained. Hence it’s a loss of 8 seats. UP should have had 125 but would have 138, gain of 13. Thanks @qfint for the detailed table below and @vrsrini for pointing out the error in the previous table.

@sanjg2k1 Thanks! Some difference will be there due to conversion of fractions to integers. Depending on which function you used for rounding off (celing/floor/nearest integer), there may be 1 seat diff in a state. I made adjustments in 2-3 states to ensure seats don't decrease as well.

@qfint Good analysis 👍 though Spreadsheet formulas make it simple. I too got almost the same numbers, though these should have been identical.

Current bill does not specify the census year used for seat allocation, 2011 is the most likely candidate. Seat projections are based on 2011 population ratio subject to the condition that a state's LS seats can not decrease in this exercise. 2/2

US Iran agreement will likely be signed. Quid pro quo will be similar to 2015, with some points of differentiation. Iranian demand to toll/block Strait of Hormuz is legally untenable.

I told @nytimes that the size and composition of Iran’s delegation shows “that they have not come to stonewall,” but are there with full authority and seriousness to reach a deal with the United States. Such a large delegation of experts would only be deployed if negotiations were in the final stages of a deal, not for an initial testing of the waters. Tehran and Washington might have advanced in talks further than publicly known during back-channel messaging mediated by Pakistan over the past weeks.” nytimes.com/2026/04/11/wor…

Agree about git. Only CLI basics are needed though. Knowing formats such as json, yaml, markdown and using them liberally for configuration, prompting and storing intermediate computation is another key skill.

Non-expert suggestion. If your are new to coding, to take full advantage of AI tools, do a quick video crash course on: 1. Unix commands 2. Basic GitHub commands I think with these two, your experience will improve immensely.

“I guess the worst case would be, we do this, and then somebody takes over, who’s as bad as the previous person, right? That could happen,” Trump told reporters Tuesday in the Oval Office. “You go through this, and then in five years, you realize you put somebody in who is no better.” bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@acorn Insurance works on the law of large numbers (LLN). LLN assumes risk of accident is uncorrelated. War makes the risk of accidents correlated. Any company providing insurance in war time will go bankrupt pretty soon due to huge numbers of claims.

@sambit_dash They don't ask anything like that in UPSC interviews. Mostly questions are related to CV + hobbies listed in application + developmental challenges of your home district etc.

On @business Trump said Monday that he would lower his 25% tariff on Indian goods to 18% after Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed during a phone call to stop buying Russian oil. Trump is also removing the extra 25% duty on Indian goods he applied in response to India’s purchases of crude from Russia, according to officials familiar with the matter. Since the bar for claiming credit in mediating international conflict has dropped, I must put on record that in keeping with my policy for world peace, I mediated in the US-Canada and US-Europe disputes. I called my friends in those countries frequently during the crises.
