A teacher’s job isn’t to affirm whatever a student already believes. It’s to show them that their worldview is narrow, their knowledge is incomplete, and their instincts are often wrong, and to then help them realize they’re strong enough to handle that realization.
We should be expanding minds, not shrinking curriculum to fit inside small ones.

Our children have lost attention stamina. They don’t even have it for recreational activities. Parents - at birth, please incorporate time into your child’s life to develop attention stamina. Let them be bored for a day. Have them create things from their own mind. Let them outside to play with nothing but basic toys. Teachers see the impact of screen based childhoods every day and it’s not good. At all.

@EboneeDavis The space you live in reflects the energy you carry. A cluttered home breeds a cluttered mind, while a clean, intentional space creates clarity, peace, and protection. It’s more than tidiness, it’s honoring yourself and the energy you allow into your life.

Standardized tests have NO place in elementary education. They’re developmentally inappropriate for young children, who are still building essential cognitive skills like problem-solving, abstract thinking, and impulse control. Many also lack the fine motor skills or experience with computers needed for these assessments. These tests are designed for older students or adults and don't align with how young children learn—through exploration, play, and hands-on experiences.

Large voucher programs have failed in other states partly b/c of a lack of quality control, esp when private schools pop up out of nowhere. Achievement is driven not by magical forces of choice, but by teachers & administrators w/ adequate time/resources who are well-prepared, continually learning, & monitored to ensure they follow a thoughtful curriculum & implement evidenced-based programs & instruction.

Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.
