Para mí fue un profundo honor y una gran responsabilidad poder intercambiar hoy con el pleno de la CIDH. Agradezco a su presidente, José Luis Caballero; a su Secretaría Ejecutiva y a su equipo profesional y de técnicos, a quienes pude reconocer su labor en defensa de los DD.HH. en Venezuela. Nuestro caso es un desafío para el Sistema Interamericano. Por eso, insistimos en denunciar la represión y el patrón de secuestro que sigue operando en el terreno, además del desmantelamiento de todas nuestras instituciones. Pedimos documentar la usurpación del poder, mantener la denuncia internacional, exigir la liberación total de los presos, una visita de la CIDH urgente al país y un nuevo informe que refleje los últimos hechos. Les hemos transmitido la confianza y la determinación de los venezolanos de avanzar a una transición que permita reconstruir nuestras instituciones democráticas, garantizar las libertades individuales de todos los venezolanos, el reencuentro de nuestras familias y el regreso de nuestros hijos a casa. - It was a profound honor and a great responsibility to engage today with the full body of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. I am grateful to its President, José Luis Caballero, as well as to its Executive Secretariat and its professional and technical teams, whose work in defense of human rights in Venezuela I was able to acknowledge. Venezuela’s case represents a serious challenge for the Inter-American System. That is why we continue to denounce the repression and the ongoing pattern of abductions on the ground, along with the dismantling of all our institutions. We called for the documentation of the usurpation of power, the continuation of international scrutiny, the demand for the full release of all prisoners, an urgent visit by the IACHR to the country, and a new report that reflects the most recent developments. We conveyed the confidence and determination of the Venezuelan people to move forward toward a transition that allows for the reconstruction of our democratic institutions, guarantees individual freedoms for all Venezuelans, enables the reunification of our families, and brings our children back home.
