Recovering nihilist. There is something to be said about a peaceful revolution in a country of this size that will rattle across all of humanity.

As a resident of Texas, I am angry our National Guard is being used this way. Set aside the legality of the actions taken by the federal government, I am upset at our governor to even agreeing to this. Chicago’s problems are Chicago’s problems. If there were a natural disaster or people are in trouble, we are happy to extend a helping hand - it is our duty as fellow humans. This fight isn’t ours.

@kileyyyq @Lauralynn071 As of late, mostly at the hands of Hamas. The war would have ended the moment they returned the hostages. They chose not to.

My son was in the flotilla. He is now in Israeli prison being mistreated. 22 Americans in all. Calls/messages to US Gov't officials are ignored. Many activists from other countries are already released. Needs national media attention.

@DogOnTheRoof @DarrigoMelanie You are only looking at the slop that gets posted on social media. You aren't seeing the research and business tools making their way into medicine and education.

“70% of Gen Z are so anxious about money…” - no universal healthcare - AI taking their jobs - housing is unaffordable - college is unaffordable - student loan, credit card, rent and auto loan delinquencies are up - sub-living wage pay - grocery prices are up All policy choices

The beauty of the United States is that we have members of every single group around the world and can share their cultural memories of the mistakes of every society in human history. One of these is Jewish people. In this particular case, that cultural memory is extremely strong here. It is lacking in Germany. Even though Germans are sensitive to what happened there in the 1920-30s, many of the victims of that tragedy are no longer among their population. This leaves it up to the Unites States to draw upon our extremely diverse population and knowledge of history to point out exactly how the current German government is barreling down the same road they did a century ago.

Pray for 60 Minutes. It is the most indispensable news entity we have and it is about to be overseen by someone who thinks we need to give equal weight to people who argue that the earth is flat and to people who argue that the earth is round.

@blcartwright @julieroginsky The complete lack of ability to see the irony in that almost requires a DEI program to make sure they have some Jewish people in their newsroom with a bit of cultural memory to question that praise.

The air traffic control tower at Hollywood Burbank Airport in Los Angeles Country, California, is currently unmanned as of 4:15pm PDT, and will remain so until at least 10:00pm, as a result of multiple air traffic controllers calling in sick today amidst the ongoing government shutdown, which is seeing them work 60-hour weeks without pay in extremely stressful environments throughout the country, according to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA). As a result of the situation at Hollywood Burbank, dozens of flights have been delayed and several canceled, with Southern California TRACON currently controlling the air traffic in the airport’s airspace, while flight delays due to staffing are also being reported by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at multiple other airports, including Newark Liberty International Airport, Denver International Airport, and Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

The primary problem is the states that are attempting to overrule federal law. How many of the people protesting in the streets over raids don't realize that simple law enforcement cooperation would end the raids. If someone is in the country illegally and arrested for a crime, have them deported from the jail. The raids will end.

@teapartytempest @michaelshermer That is the helpful tell. When someone chooses a select ethnic group like "the Jews" as their whipping post, you know they aren't thinking logically anymore. You've lost this person to their ideology and it is really up to their friends and family to try to pry them back.

Worse yet, the Instagram fabulous got into boats to stage a "kidnapping." The only issue with that operation is Israel was too quick at gathering the "hostages" and getting them on a flight to Athens. This causes the odd inconsistency of social media pleas of loved ones being kidnapped by the evil Israeli military and being tortured in cages with pre-filmed "hostage videos" demanding their release. This backfires when these posts trend alongside footage of the kidnapping victims deboarding at gates to roaring crowds of fans celebrating their negotiated release and repatriation. Worst of all, a cease fire was drawn up, debated and agreed upon the whole time of their voyage so that by the time they arrived in Israeli waters for the "capture" portion of the play, they were more or less threatening a peace process that had found its finish line. After all of this, they appear sad and upset that the cause celeb may be waning. But why? The very people you claim to want to help have a modicum of hope this might be over?!

I feel really strongly that Free Palestine has shown their moral bankruptcy this week. If they gave a single fuck about the civilians in Gaza, they’d have been pressuring Hamas to step down. But they were totally silent. They don’t actually care about the civilians they just want Israel destroyed. I will not take moral lectures from people whose literal policy preference is a second Holocaust.
Mark Dubowitz@mdubowitz

Still no word from @MarkRuffalo urging Hamas to accept peace, release hostages & stop the war. The ‘ceasefire now’ mob is either silent—or cheering Hamas against the U.S. and the wider Arab & Muslim world. It was always about the destruction of Israel.

@KonstantinKisin You've gotten to the route. Pride. It is the same thing that happens with vaccine mandates and almost all other bad policy that weasels its way into the common politic. "I made up my mind and I'll be damned if I am going to question my earlier decision."

this is perfectly sustainable and will lead to AGI if models keep marginally improving (and Nvidia makes some money on gaming GPUs). the closest we've ever got to perfect competition.

But the best side effect of not blocking all the people who use "jew" as a slur is that the political viewpoints have evened out in the population. Lefties all came out of the antisemitic closet and now they even accuse the president of being part of a powerful conspiracy of pedophiles. The circle of life is amazing.

I love the feeling of someone "assuming" my viewpoint and name calling only for me to engage, disarm, and we find agreement to the point they like my response 5 messages into the conversation. Other people? Well, they remove themselves from my life themselves when they drive by and block. I know I need not bother.
