If UEFA appoints a referee who hasn’t officiated a single Champions League match in four years to one of the most critical Round of 16 games, then there is a serious issue with their vision. We didn’t get eliminated because of the referee, that’s true. But at this level, managing a match with such poor, below-standard officiating is simply unacceptable. The awarded penalty, the missed fouls, the decisions that disrupted the balance of the game… all of it is completely at odds with the so-called “elite” status of this competition. This is not what the Champions League is supposed to be. Neither this appointment nor this performance reflects well on UEFA @ChampionsLeague .

Why was the referee changed before the Galatasaray-Liverpool match last night @UEFA? Why assign a referee who hasn’t officiated a single Champions League game in four years to such an important match? Did you run an operation against Galatasaray?

That’s the second game this week I’ve seen them just decide to play no added time. I know the games over but still feels dodgy they can’t just decide how long to play @refsupportuk thoughts ?

So even the FA admitted the decision (based on a guess from the ref who couldn't even see what happened) was wrong. A decision which cost us the game. There has to be a consequence for Andrew Kitchen. He shouldn't referee in the league again, and certainly never us. #Millwall

@grassrootsrefJa @refsupportuk Funny how when a referee makes such a glaring mistake, he's called corrupt or should never be allowed to referee again. But when players do things like this, it's funny, or it was just a mistake. Hmmmmm
