Browsing Internet plans in NZ, discovered something called Hyperfibre, widely available. Top plan gives you 8Gbps down AND up for ~$170/month.
In the bay area, the heart of the tech world, the best I could get in my area in Oakland was 50Mbps down, 10Mbps up, for around $120.
