@rolandsatchell @ZiaYusufUK But, we were 100000% scammed by the banks, because when they received the bail out money....... They still paid all their employees bonus ..... And remember, only one geezer went to prison, some poor French sap...

Gordon Brown sold 395 tonnes of our gold reserves at the bottom of the market, and - stupidly - told the market in advance. Gold has since risen 1500% and the gold he sold would be worth £40 billion more today. Now Starmer brings him back as his Finance Envoy. A sick joke

@bobMatt98647957 @ZiaYusufUK The G7, EU presidents, nobel prize winning economists, the Fed, Obama and everyone followed his plan. Is that enough?

@rolandsatchell @ZiaYusufUK I'm just wondering whom told you that "Brown Led the world out of the financial crisis"... Was it maybe Mr Brown and his spin doctors?

@Conservatives And the £67billion you raised from privatising everything is now worth around £4trillion, and we're paying considerably more in bills and putting up with worse service because of that. Hmmm what was worse for the taxpayer I wonder?

Reminder: the £2 billion of gold Gordon Brown sold when he was Chancellor would be worth £44 billion today.
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

Today I’m pleased to appoint @GordonBrown as my Special Envoy on Global Finance and Cooperation. As Britain’s longest-serving Chancellor, Gordon is well placed to work with our international allies to build a stronger Britain and boost our country’s security and resilience.

@DanielGoldersUK @Benjibontheta @ZiaYusufUK £34 billion lol. Have you seen how much it would cost to nationalise just Thames water, a fraction of just the water industry? Then do the sums for everything else that was sold of for short term tax cuts. Now everything costs exponentially more for much worse service.

@rolandsatchell @Benjibontheta @ZiaYusufUK "Thatcher's privatisation program generated over £34 billion in direct revenue for the UK government by the early 1990s. By selling state-owned assets, her government not only raised funds but also reduced public sector borrowing, which was costing £3 billion a year by 1979."

@DanielGoldersUK @Benjibontheta @ZiaYusufUK You do realise thats a piss in the ocean compared to selling off all the state industry's cheaply under Thatcher and beyond. Something that we're paying a heavy price for to this day.

@BisonSaffy @ZiaYusufUK Lol did you think letting the financial system collapse would have been a cheaper option? And we're not still paying for it, once shares were sold back to the banks it was in the very low 10's of billions

@rolandsatchell @ZiaYusufUK Have you got the memory of a goldfish or what? Gordon Brown was mocked and ridiculed globally when he stood up in Parliament and said "I saved the world economy" after selling off the UK's gold reserves at the lowest price in history and bailing out the banks. Get real.

@FinestDoveTruth @PolitlcsUK From the footage I saw there was only about 20 protesters all with the same professionaly printed placards. And when one was interviewed she said starmercwas bad because he didn't support trump and Israel with the iran war. I think it was definitely organised and not spontaneous

@stuey_beef I suppose it helps if you have a border with Afghanistan

Look at the contrast. Pakistan decides it’s had enough and starts expelling huge numbers of undocumented Afghans in months. Iran has been forcing Afghans back across the border for years. But the UK – a G7 country with far more resources – manages to remove…2% of rejected Afghan claimants, while paying millions to house people in hotels and barges and debating fantasy schemes instead of enforcing basic border law. This isn’t a capacity problem, it’s a political will problem.
