Extraordinary opening to the assisted suicide committee, so testy that the chair had to intervene. Before the committee was closed to the public we learnt: —Motion to sit without public scrutiny was only proposed last night without explanation —Kim Leadbeater’s reasoning is “respecting individuals’ privacy” (no further explanation) —Leadbeater sent round her witness selection last week, and then changed it; committee only told the changes at 10am today —Proposed witnesses include 8 supporters from other jurisdictions, 0 opponents —Of 9 lawyers, 6 in favour, 3 neutral, 0 against —No witnesses from disability organisations

It appears that HMRC has issued full Tax Returns and appropriate schedules this year to some clients rather than the usual single sheet Notice to File. Unsure why they’ve done this but we will electronically file your Return in the usual way after interview so please ignore it.

@devicesadesires I think you may have misunderstood me. As long as his PCC has agreed to it, he is perfectly at liberty (under canon law) to wear anything which he would be free to wear (under Canon C27) at any other time. Passed by Synod back in 2016/7.

I don’t have any problem with anyone mixing their words up. We have all done it. I do have a problem with the lack of formality and the wearing of jeans to preside at a service of Holy Eucharist. I am not even sure this is permitted or canonical…
