BREAKING: Barrister Marshal Has Responded Over Allegations Level Against Him By Businesswoman Tracy Ohiri Amids $70,000 Payment From Minister Of Work MY ATTENTION HAS BEEN DRAWN TO THE FALSEHOOD BEEN SPEWED BY MS TRACY OHIRI “Indeed, the fact that you helped a viper out of a ditch doesn't stop the snake from biting you. It's an undeniable fact that I was the person that rallied public spirited individuals like distinguished Senator Ireti Kingibe, the verydarkman, Comrade Omoyele Sowore, FlagboyNg, Comrade Larry and several other comrades to her aid. “Our focus was that, on no account should state apparatus be deployed to gag free speech. It was on account of our continuous activism that Ms Ohiri is not in prison today. I led other activist lawyers to move her bail orally & even while bail was granted, there was a long standoff & a lucid ploy to send her to prison at all cost. “We eventually succeeded and helped her escape prison. Distinguished Senator Ireti Kingibe tried to broker peace and mediate but she informed me that Mr. Umahi insisted that he wasn't owing her and wouldn't pay unless she can establish the existence of a contract between them. “I spoke to Senator Umahi with Mummy Ireti's phone & he was adamant, he promised he would exhaust the full judicial process to clear his name & promised to pay her in tenfold if the court ruled that he owes her but unless that she would face the full wrath of the law. “We rescheduled a meeting and I promised to revert back upon speaking with Ms Ohiri. When I spoke with her I explained the entire situation to her and explained that she has two options; she either fights on or explore settlement. If she elects to fight on, we would fight with her but she must provide necessary evidence on core issues; I discovered that there was no single real evidence of any contractual agreement between her and the Minister, that there was no evidence that the minister ever engaged her to do any contract and that there was no evidence that the minister ever informed her that what happened to the NELAN Engineers would happen to her and she couldn't show a single evidence that she delivered the goods to the minister's house as she claimed. “Meanwhile Mr Umahi already filed several matters in Ebonyi state against her. When she eventually decided, she said she doesn't want to go to Ebonyi state and that she wouldn't mind peace. We had a follow up meeting with the Minister's lawyer, Mr Abdul SAN, the minister's friend Barrister Joseph Ekumankama, Senator Ireti, Ms Traçy, her husband and I, Marshal Abubakar in attendance. “The meeting ended in a stalemate, Ms Ohiri has a terrible temper & manner, she threw tantrums & insults at everyone in that meeting thus it ended on a sour note. We all left. when the reality of what she had done dawned on her, she called & started begging. I told her clearly, she had chosen war and advised that she gets the evidence to prove her allegations. She pleaded and pleaded that I should not abandon her. She said she can't go to Ebonyi and that she's scared of Mr Umahi. At long last she offered to apologize. “Mr Umahi insisted that he would not pay a dime unless she can show the existence of communications between them prior to 2023. I reached out to Barrister Joseph (who himself was a former minister) and he offered to raise some money if she would recanẗ the false allegations otherwise I should allow her face the music. “I informed her of the decision. I told her that I do not like getting involved in money matters because of the bad blood it normally generates. She said she can't meet them cause she's scared. I told her defamation under Nigerian law is both a crime and a tortious wrong (though I have been at the vanguard of championing the fight to decriminalize free speech but it's still the law). She admitted she had no evidence and agreed to recant so long as the court processes against her would be terminated.

Isn’t it shocking how activists are unfolding? Who will ever have thought the man that fought for Yoruba nation would forget about his fight once his kinsmen got to power? The killing hasn’t stopped, but today he’s standing on a mandate. I condemned the high-handedness of Buhari against this man, but I will never support a Yoruba nation or any attempt to split the country. My argument is the same: Some freedom fighters will become corrupt. ( Cashtivists)I laugh when the same people that fought for democracy are now oppressing the people. So I ask: what did they fight for? Did they really believe in the hopes and aspirations of the people when they fought, or were they just concerned about grabbing power and state resources? The sad reality is that when people start their journey in public life, we must scrutinise them. Today, we have Labour leaders that hardly fight for the people, and today the people are dejected. The moral of my story is: Nigerians must be selfish and seek leaders that will listen to them. Trust me, any thief can easily give money if it will bring more money.

If God permits this year, I can wait to see you all in Frankfurt. I hope my scheduling permits. I also interviewed the organizers of the awards on my radio show. instagram.com/reel/DWCboTcDt…

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s current account surplus fell year-on-year, YoY, by 26 percent to $14.04 billion in 2025 from $19.03 billion in 2024. The decline was as a result of decrease in crude oil exports, crude oil imports by  Dangote Refinery, increase in Non-oil imports and increase in net out-payment for services. The BoP report stated: “Provisional, BOP, statistics for 2025 shows a current account surplus of $14.04 billion, which was lower than the $19.03 billion in the previous year but significantly higher than the $6.42 billion recorded in 2023. “Major contributors to the decline in Current Account are  the decrease in crude oil exports from $36.85 billion to $31.54 billion (14.41 percent), crude oil imports of $3.74 billion by Dangote Refinery, increase in Non-oil imports from $25.74 billion to $29.24 billion (13.6 percent) and increase in net out-payment for services from $13.36 billion to $14.58 billion (9.13 percent). “

*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE* *Moniepoint Says Case Focuses on Police-Investigated Coordinated Digital Harm, Not Criticism* _Wednesday, March 18, 2026 | Excellence Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos_ *Lagos, Nigeria* — Moniepoint MFB has addressed recent public concerns and ongoing legal proceedings, clarifying that the matter now before the court is not about customer criticism but rather about allegations of a coordinated digital harm campaign currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities. Speaking at a media conference held on Wednesday in Ikeja, the company stated that it had not arrested, detained, or requested the arrest of any individual for criticising its services. According to Moniepoint, patterns on social media engagement that border on creating reputation distrust and signs of coordination capable of triggering public panic and undermining confidence in the financial system began to emerge. Moniepoint emphasised that it respects Nigerians' right to express opinions, ask questions, and hold institutions accountable, noting that customer feedback remains central to its product and service improvements. The company, however, explained that recent developments revealed patterns of activity that extended beyond routine criticism. With a platform that supports millions of individuals and businesses while employing thousands across every Local Government Area in Nigeria, Moniepoint stated that it operates at a scale where protecting public trust is critical not only to its business, but to the stability of the broader financial ecosystem. In response to these concerns, the company confirmed that it formally reported the matter to law enforcement authorities, in line with its responsibility as a regulated financial institution. It noted that the case is now being handled independently by the appropriate agencies, with prosecution led by the relevant Nigerian Police office. Moniepoint further clarified that the issues before the court are framed around allegations including coordinated inducement, fabricated narratives, impersonation, and reputational harm. The company stressed that these are allegations that will be examined and determined through the due judicial process. The company added that the case has taken on broader significance, highlighting emerging risks within the digital ecosystem and the need for clear boundaries between legitimate expression and organised digital conduct that may be harmful. While reaffirming its respect for the judicial process and its decision not to litigate the matter in the media, Moniepoint acknowledged that recent public conversations, including those surrounding charges and policies, have raised concerns. It assured stakeholders that such feedback is being taken seriously and is informing ongoing efforts to improve communication, service delivery, and customer experience. Moniepoint also emphasised that while criticism is an essential part of a healthy ecosystem, it must not be distorted through falsehoods, inducement, or coordinated digital actions that erode public confidence. Reassuring Nigerians, the company stated that its focus remains firmly on the millions of individuals and businesses who rely on its platform every day. It reaffirmed its commitment to operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability, noting that trust remains the foundation of its relationship with customers. *Media Contact:* Bemigho Awala Public and Media Relations Manager, Moniepoint Inc press@moniepoint.com

ISWAP death toll rises to 75 after devastating defeat in Malam Fatori By: Zagazola Makama The death toll of terrorists neutralised during a failed infiltration attempt on troops’ position in Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno, has risen to 75, in what security analysts describe as one of the most decisive recent blows against the Islamic State West Africa Province. Zagazola report that the Initial reports had put the number of insurgents killed at 61, following a coordinated response by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Nigerian Air Force. However, updated battlefield assessments and mop-up operations indicate that at least 75 fighters were neutralised, with several others believed to have escaped with severe injuries. The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, saw ISWAP fighters advancing on foot toward the 68 Battalion location, reportedly deploying armed drones in an attempt to breach defensive lines. The infiltration, launched from the Duguri axis toward the Bravo Company frontage, was swiftly detected and repelled. Military sources said the success of the operation was anchored on superior coordination between air and ground forces, illustrating the growing effectiveness of joint-force synergy in counter-insurgency operations in the North-East. Four precision air interdiction strikes were conducted on identified terrorist withdrawal routes effectively degrading their combat capability and disrupting their manoeuvre. The integration of air power ensured that the insurgents were fixed in position and subjected to sustained bombardment, forcing a chaotic withdrawal toward the Arege axis. Further compounding the losses of the terrorists group was the intervention of allied air assets from the Niger Republic, which carried out additional strike passes on fleeing terrorists.Although a full battle damage assessment of those strikes is still ongoing, security sources believe the combined firepower significantly increased the casualty figures. In addition to the high number of fatalities, troops reportedly recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the battlefield, further weakening the operational capacity of the group in the Lake Chad region. On the side of government forces, four soldiers sustained minor injuries and have since been stabilised.
