Nigerians the so called over 746 million pounds investment is a loan Nigeria will pay back so it’s not a win for Nigeria It’s a win for the Uk as the UK gets 20% of the contract As of March 20, 2026, the UK Export Finance (UKEF)Buyer Credit Facility for Nigeria is a £746 million ($902m) guaranteed loan agreement specifically designed to fund the redevelopment and modernization of the Lagos Port Complex (Apapa Quays) and the TinCan Island Port Complex.   Global Trade Review (GTR)  +1 Key Details of the Facility •Loan Structure: This is a standard UKEF Buyer Credit Facility where Nigeria (via the Nigerian Ports Authority and Ministry of Finance) borrows from a commercial lender—in this case, Citibank N.A. London Branch—with UKEF providing a 100% unconditional guarantee to the lender against non-payment. •Purpose: The funds are dedicated to refurbishing critical maritime infrastructure in Lagos to improve cargo turnaround times and align operations with international standards. •UK Content Requirement: A core condition of the facility is that a significant portion of the loan must be spent on UK goods and services. At least £236 million of the contracts are directed to British companies, including a record £70 million contract for British Steel to supply 120,000 tonnes of steel billets. •Repayment: Unlike a grant, this is a debt facility that the Nigerian government must repay with interest over an agreed period. It allows the borrower to access longer repayment terms than typically available in the private market. •Strategic Context: The deal was signed on March 19, 2026, during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's visit to Downing Street, alongside a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore future trade and investment opportunities.  •Global Trade Review (GTR)
+5 How it Works for Buyers •Financing Limit: UKEF can typically guarantee up to 85% of the contract value for projects containing a minimum of 20% UK content. •Local Currency: Notably, UKEF has previously included the Naira on its list of pre-approved currencies, allowing some facilities to be structured in local currency to manage exchange rate risk.

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has described Nigeria’s latest ranking on the global terrorism index (GTI) as a troubling reflection of poor leadership. Obi noted that the country remains one of the most terrorised in the world, with a significant rise in terrorism-related deaths.

•The 1976 tournament did not have a traditional final match, but rather a four-team final round-robin group. The match between Morocco and Guinea on March 14, 1976, was the final, decisive game. •The Protest: After Guinea took a 1-0 lead, Moroccan players were unhappy with a Zambian referee’s decision (reportedly a red card) and walked off the field in protest around the 80th minute. •Outcome: The players returned to the pitch after a delay, and Morocco equalized in the 86th minute via Ahmed Makrouh, resulting in a 1-1 draw. This secured the draw they needed to top the group and win their first-ever AFCON title.  •Daily Trust

So we are now taking asylum seekers from the UK. I thought we rejected those from America. Nigeria has entered into a fresh agreement with the United Kingdom that will enable British authorities to repatriate thousands of failed asylum seekers and convicted offenders to the West African nation. The deal was formalised by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood during President Bola Tinubu’s official visit to Britain, according to a statement released by the Home Office on Thursday.

Nigeria’s dependence on imported petrol persisted in 2025, with oil marketers spending N8.96tn on Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) imports between January and December, despite increased investments in domestic refining capacity. An analysis of the latest foreign trade data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Thursday showed that petrol, code-named “Motor spirit ordinary,” remained one of the most imported commodities throughout the year, reflecting ongoing supply gaps in the downstream sector. The NBS said petrol import costs were N8.96tn in 2025, but represented a decline of N6.46tn or about 41.9 per cent from the N15.42tn recorded in 2024, but still stood N1.45tn or roughly 19.3 per cent higher than the N7.51tn posted in 2023 when fuel subsidy was eliminated by the current administration.

Uk benefits more from the visit If only Ajaokuta was working are we going to use UK steel for this Last year, we took decisive action to save British Steel from closure. We secured its future, and protected thousands of British jobs. Today, we’ve signed an historic deal between the UK and Nigeria, providing steel for the construction of ports in Lagos. This will support thousands of skilled British jobs with hundreds of millions invested into the British economy.

BREAKING: Barrister Marshal Has Responded Over Allegations Level Against Him By Businesswoman Tracy Ohiri Amids $70,000 Payment From Minister Of Work MY ATTENTION HAS BEEN DRAWN TO THE FALSEHOOD BEEN SPEWED BY MS TRACY OHIRI “Indeed, the fact that you helped a viper out of a ditch doesn't stop the snake from biting you. It's an undeniable fact that I was the person that rallied public spirited individuals like distinguished Senator Ireti Kingibe, the verydarkman, Comrade Omoyele Sowore, FlagboyNg, Comrade Larry and several other comrades to her aid. “Our focus was that, on no account should state apparatus be deployed to gag free speech. It was on account of our continuous activism that Ms Ohiri is not in prison today. I led other activist lawyers to move her bail orally & even while bail was granted, there was a long standoff & a lucid ploy to send her to prison at all cost. “We eventually succeeded and helped her escape prison. Distinguished Senator Ireti Kingibe tried to broker peace and mediate but she informed me that Mr. Umahi insisted that he wasn't owing her and wouldn't pay unless she can establish the existence of a contract between them. “I spoke to Senator Umahi with Mummy Ireti's phone & he was adamant, he promised he would exhaust the full judicial process to clear his name & promised to pay her in tenfold if the court ruled that he owes her but unless that she would face the full wrath of the law. “We rescheduled a meeting and I promised to revert back upon speaking with Ms Ohiri. When I spoke with her I explained the entire situation to her and explained that she has two options; she either fights on or explore settlement. If she elects to fight on, we would fight with her but she must provide necessary evidence on core issues; I discovered that there was no single real evidence of any contractual agreement between her and the Minister, that there was no evidence that the minister ever engaged her to do any contract and that there was no evidence that the minister ever informed her that what happened to the NELAN Engineers would happen to her and she couldn't show a single evidence that she delivered the goods to the minister's house as she claimed. “Meanwhile Mr Umahi already filed several matters in Ebonyi state against her. When she eventually decided, she said she doesn't want to go to Ebonyi state and that she wouldn't mind peace. We had a follow up meeting with the Minister's lawyer, Mr Abdul SAN, the minister's friend Barrister Joseph Ekumankama, Senator Ireti, Ms Traçy, her husband and I, Marshal Abubakar in attendance. “The meeting ended in a stalemate, Ms Ohiri has a terrible temper & manner, she threw tantrums & insults at everyone in that meeting thus it ended on a sour note. We all left. when the reality of what she had done dawned on her, she called & started begging. I told her clearly, she had chosen war and advised that she gets the evidence to prove her allegations. She pleaded and pleaded that I should not abandon her. She said she can't go to Ebonyi and that she's scared of Mr Umahi. At long last she offered to apologize. “Mr Umahi insisted that he would not pay a dime unless she can show the existence of communications between them prior to 2023. I reached out to Barrister Joseph (who himself was a former minister) and he offered to raise some money if she would recanẗ the false allegations otherwise I should allow her face the music. “I informed her of the decision. I told her that I do not like getting involved in money matters because of the bad blood it normally generates. She said she can't meet them cause she's scared. I told her defamation under Nigerian law is both a crime and a tortious wrong (though I have been at the vanguard of championing the fight to decriminalize free speech but it's still the law). She admitted she had no evidence and agreed to recant so long as the court processes against her would be terminated.

Isn’t it shocking how activists are unfolding? Who will ever have thought the man that fought for Yoruba nation would forget about his fight once his kinsmen got to power? The killing hasn’t stopped, but today he’s standing on a mandate. I condemned the high-handedness of Buhari against this man, but I will never support a Yoruba nation or any attempt to split the country. My argument is the same: Some freedom fighters will become corrupt. ( Cashtivists)I laugh when the same people that fought for democracy are now oppressing the people. So I ask: what did they fight for? Did they really believe in the hopes and aspirations of the people when they fought, or were they just concerned about grabbing power and state resources? The sad reality is that when people start their journey in public life, we must scrutinise them. Today, we have Labour leaders that hardly fight for the people, and today the people are dejected. The moral of my story is: Nigerians must be selfish and seek leaders that will listen to them. Trust me, any thief can easily give money if it will bring more money.
