@dragthe_lake Most difficult thing I've ever done. Harder than law school. I still think if I inhaled a puff I'd smoke until I ran out of money. That's 11 years later. So worth it though.
Every time you drive I-64 between Louisville & Frankfort & see the widening to 3 lanes, remind yourself that the reason it’s being done is because road contractors make huge political contributions & bureaucrats like projects. It had absolutely nothing to do w/ the welfare of KY.
@LexingtonBike No, mostly the Rambling River Tour. Very remote. Cut through Southern Indiana which was awesome (esp the abandoned road through the woods). Very low traffic roads all day except a mile on US 60. 76 through central Kentucky I think is probably much higher traffic than when planned
@cityresearch That is such a wild quote.Have you ever seen Keats The Insolent Chariots. It's a nonfiction book about the impacts of 1950's "dreamboats" on NYC. So wild to read something from such a late time when public opinion was not formed on automobiles.
"Automobilists are a picture of arrogance and wealth, with all its independence and carelessness... Nothing has spread socialist feeling in this country more than the automobile."
- Woodrow Wilson in 1906 from Tom Lewis' 'Divided Highways'
@ryanpfenwick I'm not sure honestly...just super excited about any of this potentially happening. I live across the street from an MSD access ramp & this would transform how I get around the city!
