It's literally just called the sublime. Liminal spaces is just a contemporary version of this but it's a centuries old artistic concept. See the paintings of Turner and Friedrich. The spaces are too vast and incomprehensible for us to comprehend and thus inspire awe.

found a good way to describe it in the comments: Backrooms liminal is the incomprehensible vastness and uncaring inhospitability of outer space applied to mundane, everyday human spaces. It has human elements, but the size, placement and emptiness makes it completely anti-human
