There's been a lot of tech illiteracy on this today. But if you are compromising your own hardware to cheat in a video game, quite frankly, I couldn't care if they made your PC remotely detonate. what's with the weird correlation with Vtubers and artists being so pro cheater?

@KevinDahmer @notsorrycat The “paperweight” comment was tongue in cheek. Because those devices are only usable for cheats (as they’re currently set up before someone is pedantic) your PC will be stuck in the error cycle till you unplug them rendering them useless.

Damaging someones device is, in fact, illegal.
Terms of Service are not law, and they accomplish very little in court. "I didn't read them" is an actual legal defense. Bricking hardware meanwhile IS a real crime.

The problem is t with that, they pushed dangerous software into people's PC instead of just disabling the accounts access. That is textbook internet crime, straight from the 90s. The law is there and it should be applied. 18 U.S. Code § 1030

If you are genuinely worried about Vanguard blue-screening your PC, the solution is incredibly simple:
Stop buying $200 DMA cards to cheat in a video game.
Riot isn't being "too intrusive," they're finally making cheating have actual consequences.
If you ruin competitive matches, you deserve to have your OS wiped.
