@monerify You can't argue with what Monero has accomplished. But now we need private methods of transacting onchain that are compliant. We can't win over the masses with confusion over which tokens are "okay" to use. None of this confusion exists with Shield.

one of the arguments against monero was the lack of 'approval' it supposedly had compared to other coins like zec or btc it's important to keep in mind that the largest crypto friendly country is the US, and although monero isn't listed in most exchanges, it is NOT illegal kraken has monero listed and the reason why gemini, coinbase and others don't have it is because they have an agenda it probably goes against it, not because they can't now for the first time monero is being mentioned in a senate bill that is being passed in Arizona

@will__mcevoy We couldn't agree more that privacy is the most mispriced asset in society. That's why we built Shield to tackle this problem directly and give users access to complete onchain privacy. Shield has entered the privacy sector, and we're not leaving.

Zcash is the most mispriced asset in crypto because privacy is the most mispriced asset in society. The market has no real framework for valuing privacy so it gets ignored. The upside is asymmetric nonetheless. Some food for thought:

@deepcandles @jswihart @dismad8 What Zcash has accomplished for onchain privacy is indisputable. But to only allow one token or currency to exist in your ecosystem is a mistake. You need private stablecoins, private BTC, private everything to entice the masses. Thankfully, Shield fixes all of this.

It’s not just about outside interest. Zcash cannot win the platform game of tokenized assets. That is not our muscle. There are purpose built chains whose entire focus is asset issuance, and even they struggle to stand out. Going down that path dilutes what Zcash is known for. Decentralized ZSAs mean a chain full of noise and speculative tokens. 
Centralized ZSAs mean assets that can be frozen, which cuts against the very principles that made Zcash matter. And this is before we even talk about competition from other privacy coins that keep their privacy pool clean instead of mixing it with everything else. Zcash does not win by trying to be everything. Zcash wins by being the best at one thing. Private, censorship resistant money.

Some new investors bought a lot of $ZEC and now they voted to turn down ZSA's. I think the timing is very interesting. I stand by what I've said before: it is my hope ZSA's get launched, and furthmore think it is a mistake to abondon all the work done. (Not to mention cost!).

@BarrySilbert We couldn't agree more when it comes to privacy. The only difference is that onchain privacy will be led by Shield on @AleoHQ. With private stablecoins, private transactions and more, Shield is uniquely situated to bridge the gap of digital assets and tradfi systems.
