Enough votes to impeach Sara Zimmerman Duterte! The Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Justice said that she is confident that they have the numbers — knowing the composition of the House, ⅓ is easy. Judging by the documents and resource persons the Committee invited, it seems as though the goal of the endorsers is simple — to make voting against the impeachment of Sara Zimmerman Duterte sound stupid. Well, this is the obvious reason why the DDS-led lawyers filed a petition to the Supreme Court to stop the committee hearing. By laying down the evidence before the other members of the House of Representatives and the public — the complaints can gain more positive votes, the public perception of Sara will be affected and the Senate will more likely move to at least start the trial. I also have to agree with Chairperson Jinky Luistro — the time the Duterte defense team spent looking for technicalities could have been used to answer accusations and give the public the explanation. All these would have been over a long time ago… if she really has a decent explanation, if she really is innocent. So forgive all of us to look at all these twists and turns — all the acts of desperation from the side of Sara Duterte as a very telling indication that they do not have a defense at all. There’s a huge chance that the only way to get away with the impeachment is if there’s no trial at all.
