In other words, they're no longer pretending that SLS can (or ever could) deliver Orion to the Moon.

NEWS: NASA is planning a bigger @SpaceX Moon mission role using Starship, in a massive blow to Boeing. With the new proposal, Boeing's SLS would no longer be used to boost Orion close to the moon. Instead, Starship and Orion would dock in Earth orbit, giving Starship the pivotal role of propelling the capsule to the moon’s orbit, before taking astronauts down to the surface. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

SLS 5.5 billion a pop and 2 years to make one and then destroyed. Starships will be mass produced and and 2-10 million a flight. With 5 additional flights to refuel it would be10-50 million. The starship was going to have to meet the Orion capsule at the moon anyway and bring the astronauts to the surface so it might as well push the capsule there and dock earlier. Now need cheaper way to get the capsule to orbit.

@SawyerMerritt @SpaceX Which one of these rockets has gotten to orbit and sent something around the Moon? Seems retarded until Starship actually produces results required for this mission.

No they aren't, that just marketing hype. The law so physics haven't changes and every battery is going to degrade over times and hold less and less charge with each recharge. The battery might still technically function in ten years, but it won't be anywhere near max capacity. That 360 mile range when you first bought the vehicle is going to be about 216 miles or less if you rely on supercharges that further reduce battery life in five year or less.

Why This Feels Like a War Crime? In any other era, if you were out of ammo or cornered, there was a slim chance of surrender or a "fair" end. But you can't surrender to a kamikaze drone. It doesn't have a heart, it doesn't take prisoners, and it doesn't understand mercy.

I’m just going to say this — had Mexican soldiers invaded across the USA’s southern border on 10/7/2023 to rape and murder their way across part of Texas, then paraded the corpses of dead, naked American women around like trophies for the Mexican civilian population to spit on, by 10/7/2024, Mexico as an independent country would have ceased to exist — and no one would have said a word in protest. No one tells non-Jewish nations that they must turn the other cheek after acts of war. Only Israel is expected to meekly bury her dead; only Jews are supposed to constantly mourn, but never to retaliate; to accept butchery and brutality and bombings as the price they must pay for mere existence — and it has far less to do with Palestinian lives than it does with the age-old European conviction that Jews only exist so that the rest of society has someone to abuse.

@spacexgator @Erezeneb @Teslarati Probably right. At least in our case, if we get to our 900 mile destination two hours later (we stop overnight someplace) rested & comfortable, that is good enough for me. Not everyone has that luxury, but a lot of travelers do. No one I know needs a race-car pit stop.

@Erezeneb @RichRichg99 @Teslarati Not going to beat 3 minutes for a while. I usually pee and get a drink while my wife walks the dog and then we swap. I find charging adds 20% to a long trip if you were only going to stop every 350 miles.

@RichRichg99 @spacexgator @Teslarati Unless the fuel hose is still in the car, which it usually isn't, that's just jerks. It takes me ~3 minutes to pee and get coffee. Which pumps 24 gallons in the US.

Batteries on Tesla are operational for more than 10 years. About 90% original capacity. Can’t do 10 minutes charging but at a good super charger could go from 10% to 50% charge in 10 minutes. That’s 120 to 160 mile range depending on your vehicle. Ideally you charge at home at night and never have to wait but long road trips add 20% travel time over gas if you never stop for bathroom breaks.

Iraq's pipeline through Turkey will be operational in a week. The world is totally bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The result of this war will be that no country will ever again be able to hold the world hostage by blocking the Strait. The IRI PLAYED ITSELF!

If Muslims will attack America over actions Israel takes in the Middle East, then Muslims probably shouldn't live here
Fenix Ammunition@FenixAmmunition

@TheQuartering This happened specifically because of Israel's actions in Lebanon. So, like it or not, we absolutely are being subjected to the ramifications of what the self described Jewish state is doing. It's Muslim terror yes. Take one more step and ask yourself why it's happening.

@wintonARK The US produces 15-20 million barrels of oil a day. Is that the run rate of the solar panel factories? Would just need 1/10 the rate because they last for 10 years. Also is that assuming northern hemisphere sun and clouds?

a barrel of oil can provide as much electricity as a 400W solar panel does annually. a barrel of oil runs $92 and comes with a few minor logistical complications. this year the solar panel should run less than $90; you can order online, ships in a week.
