@UKDefJournal @GraemeDownieMP Build 50! Britain has bigger GDP than Russia, no reason it should have over 200 fewer ships

@NavyLookout @WeAreHII The first batch will basically be River Class OPVs. Not sure that is what the US Navy needs tbh.

🇺🇸USN has awarded a $282.9M contract to @WeAreHII to begin design work and procure long lead items for the FF(X) Frigate programme. The first ships will have very basic armament, but future flights will likely have expanded capabilities, including VLS cells and ASW systems

@Chibben_Fren @braxcyy Finland did not fall under the iron curtain. They have much more in common with Swden than Russia.

@braxcyy Either Britain or Finland. Flattering Finland as not Eastern Europe or the insistence on Britain being a special category instead of Western Europe

@BluEagle98 @47bloodhound @Milo_Edwards Your entire economy is smaller than london. On a per capita basis, you're as poor as Mexico. You have a vastly higher murder rate, lower life expectancy, lower hdi. Your country has never achieved a single notable thing in its history beyond losing to us.

The Royal Navy has 17 frigates and destroyers When the Falklands kicked off it had 64 But we have blue water submarines and Argentina doesn't, so it's all just noise

@TimTim1254 @PeterShoreite Tories are still a point ahead. Badenoch is now the second most popular leader behind Davy.

@PeterShoreite Reform and to a lesser extent Restore will split the general right vote. The Greens will do well in certain areas but won't split the general left vote as much because people will rally round Labour in fear of Reform. So In other words, you'd best be getting used to Keir...

Reform aren’t getting back to 30%, they’ve already peaked. The Greens have dropped from 21% to 15% on YouGov in less than two months. Knowing this country, we’ll probably end up back in the same old cycle of Conservative and Labour dominance in a few years’ time. We’re cooked.

@JamesCleverly I'm not a reform supporter, but they're not contradicting themselves here. You can say that lot's of the green belt doesn't need protecting as it's ugly and rundown whilst still protecting pretty areas of the country.

@YBattleaxe15846 @hanisch_felix @HoyasFan07 Readiness rates of 40% would be quite good. Generally rule.of.thumb with complex warships is that ¼ will be deployed another ¼ will be active in port and can be brought up on short notice, and the other ½ is in some stage maintenance.

@·
@hanisch_felix @HoyasFan07 It is a major step forward. Assuming readiness rates of roughly 40% (still not great), you could have a deployable force of that listed below. That's a pretty hefty presence, and requires just 7/19 of the planned exports.

If the UK wants to be able to credibly defend its interests it will of course need to spend more than 2.3% GDP on defense. That's a post Cold War 'peace dividend' level of defense spending.

@HoyasFan07 Yes but there’s no money for additional SSKs
