@heathcliff_184 @joel_ca_c @alelliott88 Is it a generational thing maybe, and an outlet for a sense of belonging? As a gen x, we had so much going on in the 90's we were spoilt for choice for movements and scenes to become a part of. Get the feeling younger people today don't have so many outlets.

@alelliott88 it becoming prominent does say something about Englishness now, I think. Apart from the football and cricket team, I don't recall seeing "England" as distinct from "Britain" until maybe after the Scottish Ind_y ref; Englishness was fully subsumed into Britishness (and vice versa)
