Ant Edwards. President Barack Obama. It began at Team USA Training camp and turned into a game of one-on-one we didn’t know we needed.

@bendreyfuss It’s the standard MAGA resentment - here are successful people who must be undermining my success with their own. And they are not white, so it’s unfair.

@jonkentcomrade Do politics for us because our ideas and candidates are not popular enough to stand on their own is a hell of an admission

With Burrito Loco closing in Dinkytown, that leaves just Blarney and Stubs as the bars I did things I'm not proud of when I went to the U. RIP - OG Sallys (the best Sallys) - B Loco - The Library - Hell, even Kitty Cat Klub (Don't judge)

He’s suggesting that the state banning gas stove bans when nobody wanted to ban gas stoves is the reason Republicans are better prepared for disasters. I’m not weighing in on who’s better, just saying that’s his whole argument.
Michael Lotfi@MichaelLotfi

Boy there sure are a lot of mad libs in the comments saying this is a "fake narrative". Oh really? Then why did @TNGOP lawmakers have to pass HB483/SB367 (2023) to prevent Nashville & other liberal cities from banning propane/natural gas? And why did the majority of @tndp liberal Dems vote against the bill so Nashville could ban gas appliances & generators? Literally 2 seconds on Google proves you wrong. Cry harder.

Those in Nashville area surviving off of gas powered generators, natural gas or propane stoves/fireplaces: Now is a good time to remind you that if the Left had their way- all of these things would be banned for their "green energy" crusade. Yes, they really are that dumb. Just saying.

"OpSec" and "direct action". The entire reason why the observers work is mass mobilization of a broad spectrum of the public. Leftists will colonize any movement that gains even the semblance of effectiveness and immediately try to gut it.
Martin Supreme, Senior@BuzzfeedGDebord

Re: Stancil, if he was asked to stop ride-alongs and didn’t, that alone is enough to stop organizing with him. Please don’t act like he doesn’t have years of public political behavior to judge him on. OpSec is real, and direct action doesn’t need media coverage to be effective.

@MichaelLaRosaDC I think hundreds of photos and videos of “immigration enforcement” in Minneapolis is going to be more impactful to the median voter than Frey’s statement or an unchanged policy in Minneapolis

@mattyglesias @maustermuhle Do you think that private schools (non-government functions) are somehow open to a greater degree than public schools currently? Could you point to something that would demonstrate that fact?

Well, it’s also the reality that many teachers and staff live outside D.C., and every jurisdiction around the city has closed their schools tomorrow also. Deciding whether to open schools isn’t just about if students can get there, it’s also about teachers.
Rachel Cohen Booth@rcobooth

"weather conditions" is too vague and euphemistic when the storm is very over. the city's lack of plowing is the reason x.com/dcpublicschool…

What is happening in the Twin Cities and the Great North Star State is heartbreaking to witness. These events have cost lives and shaken families — and we must call for accountability, transparency, and protections for all people. This moment demands that we reflect honestly on what our values truly are. My thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the families of Renée Good and Alex Pretti. I stand with the people of Minnesota.

@rossiadam Today of all days: taxes, regulations and rent control (not laws, proposals!) are the “evil” and “sinister” government behavior that needs to get called out.

I am not moving my family and businesses from Virginia. But something sinister just happened here and I need to take action. I have lived here since I was 6 years old. I have done my share to help build this state up. I have owned a business here since I was 24 years old. I have employed thousands of Virginians. I have invested millions in plant and equipment. I have coached sports, been a leader in scouts, run internship programs, and participated in local philanthropy. I am a political independent. I am for whomever gives me less government. I didn’t get that in the last election. The Virginia Democratic Party has come into power with proposals that seem to be almost comically evil. Massive, business-killing tax hikes. Dramatic increase in regulatory scope. Socialist policies around things like rent control, entitlement spending exploding. Sweeping limits on law enforcement and a reduction in crime consequences that make us less safe. We have went from a Top-5 business friendly state to a place where many of the people in my business community are discussing relocating their business out of the state. I watched this happen in Maryland. I can’t let it happen here. I hate politics. Hate it. I don’t want to run for political office. I have never given money to a state politician. I don’t try to influence policy. I try not to talk about politics too much on X. It’s a boring argument. I also think arguments about R vs D are boring. I have known plenty of moderate Democrats in Virginia that I felt were good public servants. However, the Democrat majority that was recently sworn in is like nothing we have ever seen here. These people are not centrists, and they represent a fringe view that is far to the left of the majority of Virginians. I am now compelled to get much more involved with the political process here in Virginia. We have to grab the wheel before we drive off the cliff. Who should I talk to about becoming more involved in organizing opposition to the current proposals? Who can I support to challenge them in court? Who should I talk to about supporting candidates for future elections that will bring us back to the policies that have made Virginia so prosperous in the past? Looking for specific people I should link up with. That could be Republicans or Democrats or Independents. I know there are many other Virginians from across the political spectrum that feel the way I do. Virginia is worth fighting for.

Yeah fiction writers are pretty bad at making game rules. The obvious function of the snitch is for Harry to have an elite job that makes him cool. But the way the snitch would make any sense is if the vast majority of games ended with the snitch never being caught, so the work by the rest of the team is what counts. But then catching the snitch means that 1/20 games or whatever end with some random happenstance causing the victory and all the work from most of the team being flushed. It’s not unique to Rowling. Edgar Rice Burroughs invented the game of Jetan, a sort of martian chess. But if you try to actually play it, it always ends in a draw.
Harmony Ginger@Gingerblast

Quidditch could have worked fine if the snitch was worth 0 points and only served as the end condition for the game. Since it is worth 150 points, every other player but the seeker hardly matters I'm not a big enough Potter-head to have ever looked into the world of professional quidditch, but I imagine they must have changed this rule somewhere along the way

Everyone on CNN is refusing to acknowledge that the officer was struck by the car. It’s just lying. I really don’t understand how they can do it. Honestly.

@strandj @ASFleischman @BlueBoxDave This woman is no different than Ashli Babbitt. In both cases it was a bad shot by a panicky cop that didn't have to happen but was justified, and a woman radicalized by reckless politicians who convinced them to take things into their own hands & confront armed law enforcement.
