30 years ago I lived on the top floor of a pre war building in Bronxville, NY, with winning vistas of the highway. I’d watch, and contemplate how existentially important and heavy the lives were in each and every car.

This is important because Democrats cannot conceive of a country that is organically colorblind, so they have to manipulate districts based on race. Byron Donalds won’t be governor of Florida because he’s black, but one of these guys will be in congress because they’re white.

It turns out, the only white voters of any party, who will only vote for white people live in Manhattan. How is everyone in the primary a white guy if it’s not the “white guy seat?”

New York Magazine@NYMag

NY-12, which includes both the Upper West and Upper East Sides, is the smallest and most population-dense congressional district in the country, one that candidates can crisscross several times over in an afternoon. It is among the wealthiest and oldest districts in the United States and is also the district with the most college graduates. If you listen to the candidates, the battle for NY-12 is not just about who will be the next member of the city’s congressional delegation but a contest among factions of the island’s Democratic base: the old-money elite, the anti-Trump resisters, the tech-world crusaders, and the old-school party Establishment. While nearly a dozen candidates are vying for the district’s congressional seat, the primary is coming down to just four: Micah Lasher, a state assemblyman from the Upper West Side and a longtime political hand who is Jerry Nadler’s anointed successor; Alex Bores, an assemblyman from the Upper East Side whose calls for AI regulation have led to millions of dollars being spent both for and against him; George Conway, the onetime Republican lawyer who has achieved notoriety as a leader of the #Resistance; and a previously little-known social-media influencer who is trying to rewrite the rules of New York City politics. “It’s New York-sized,” that social-media influencer, Jack Schlossberg, said when asked why this campaign is different. Schlossberg’s presence in the race proves the point. For our Cover Story, David Freedlander reports on how four liberal-but-not-left Democrats are racing to be the face of Manhattan: nymag.visitlink.me/Os2_Oz

@bradlander Brad, not sure how much clearer I can make this for you, but: You get absolutely no say over where/whether ICE operates where it has jurisdiction. Take a basic civics class, will you?

ICE is not a rogue agency. They are operating well within their jurisdiction, which, perhaps to the surprise of dolts like Valdez, includes New York City. Deploying resources to protect those agents from attacks and to restore order in the communities agitators have descended upon to sow chaos in “protest” is squarely within the remit of the NYPD, which does not deny protection to those the aforementioned dolts find undeserving of such protection. The NYPD has no more “collaborated” with ICE by arresting rioters than they have “collaborated” with the Bloods by enforcing the law against Crips. Hope that clears things up.
Claire Valdez@claireforny

NYPD cannot collaborate with a rogue federal agency terrorizing our neighborhoods. We need a full investigation into every contact between NYPD and ICE that night — and full accountability. Solidarity with Chidozie Wilson Okeke and the New Yorkers who showed up. Abolish ICE.

These shocking allegations, if true, show why the Fraud Task Force’s work is so important. I’m directing the task force to look into it and take immediate action to prosecute any fraudsters involved and stop all further payments as appropriate.

94 Medicaid "home health" companies purport to occupy this office building, taking more than $66 million of your money. They provide free butlers to immigrants. "No windows on the outside hides the fact that there's no one on the inside." There's an entire street of these.

He’s in the country illegally with arrests for assault and drug possession. He has to be arrested and deported. That’s exactly what our democratically enacted federal laws require.

Video just out of the violent detainment by ICE of a man from his vehicle in Bushwick, which led to injury requiring medical treatment. Rightwingers want people to believe this is totally lawful and normal and good. It is fascism, profiling people and terrorizing communities.

On today’s episode of my podcast I discuss the fall of Chuck Schumer. This primary cycle, he’s watching most of his backed candidates go down in flames in primaries across the country. His days as leader of the Democrats in the Senate are numbered.
