Anyone cares I'm over on threads.net more (username stromulus28). At least they are pretending to moderate.

Hey @VRDesktop, if someone offered you a free swap, would you turn in a Quest Pro for a Quest 3?
Not seeing many comparisons out there between these two, obviously the leap from Q2 to Q3 is massive and that is being focused on.
English

@catgyoung I review and finalize genetic test results, and help the world adopt whole genome sequencing from raw data to patient- and provider-friendly reports. @illumina

There has been tons of interest how @Illumina's Complete Long Read technology and assay work. Check out this blog post for details. #bioinformatics #longreads #wgs

If you want more from your genome, Illumina Complete Long Reads may be the solution you didn’t know you needed. With a completely novel process, this breakthrough solution is helping researchers generate more accurate (and confident) genomes than ever: bit.ly/3X4ehhl

@VRDesktop Makes 100% sense. I'm surprised it's even that high, considering the cost and how successful Quest 2 has been. Generally VD has worked great for me on Pro.
English

Didn’t know I was able to share but if you are wondering why Quest Pro specific features are not high priority in Virtual Desktop, it’s because Quest Pro represents only about 2% of the Quest 2 users in my usage statistics.

@andybak @VRDesktop @ID_AA_Carmack @tom_forsyth @SadlyItsBradley You are able to share usage statistics!

@VRDesktop @KKSlider0030 Yikes! Hopefully they'll squash this bug soon. Thanks as always for your engagement with the user community. Been enjoying Vertigo 2 lately via VD, so much fun. Can't believe I started my gaming life with a NES light gun, now this 😁
English

@KKSlider0030 @stromulus It doesn’t fix the issue for everyone.. its a band-aid fix. Meta is looking into it.

I have probably listened to this song more than any other single song during my lifetime.
And I still love it!

@BrianRWasik @GYamey My two kids are definitely going to get this shot (and be taught why) as soon as they are eligible. So thankful for this life-saving technology!

@LawlessKahlil 1 citizen is now happy? C'mon Sid, gotta give us more of a bonus than that! How is the "cure for cancer" equivalent to "gypsum for 30 turns"??
English

@lizmizerik @HiMyNameIsGina If you or anyone at a lab is interested in setting this up I have a lead on potential funding but no takers yet on the lab side. Everyone is so busy!
English

@stromulus @HiMyNameIsGina Agreed!! There’s a steep decline in cost of WGS and some payers are starting to cover it. I think we will get there soon.
English

@lizmizerik @HiMyNameIsGina I think the best test for families and providers is WGS + methylation array. Unfortunately this is not available to patients. Despite having the tools needed to get a high chance of clear diagnosis fast, no lab even offers this because of the economics. Working on it!
English

@stromulus @HiMyNameIsGina Methylation first. More cost effective and practical given the payer state we are in. Mechanism may be important but quick, cheap dx is a priori.

I will present a poster on Oct 26th at 3pm in #ASHG22 on an application of @illumina Complete Long Read to aid ASO design for treatment of rare AD genetic disorders pathogenic de novo mutation. Many thanks to @n_lorem @ryanjtaft @aligenie and the ICLR team! See U at 2866!

@jon_belyeu I just heard them call your name at the poster printing session 😅
Didn't see you though!

@jdidion Like any new tool, it's going through some early year growing pains. Overall short read sv detection can be powerful for many important car types.

Sorry but "we in the field" do not call short read sv callers "not good". Instead, we call short reads non-optimal for sv calling. Short read callers actually do really well (vs theoretical max) for precision/recall when taking consensus among multiple, eg Parliament2.
