@hannes_maib @ChrisToseland It's not ideal, but the statement goes on to say: 'This assumes on-going funding for the FLF which supports those looking to establish themselves as leaders in new fields or ways of working' so it's FLFs in place of SRFs (so fewer fellowships overall?)

@ChrisToseland Please do not make this into a zero sum game of ECR vs senior fellowships. Both are needed for the academic system to work and externally funded ECRs are still the best way for long term legacy planning

This decision is out of step with University finance pressures: (1) Senior fellowships provide opportunities for researchers when Universities won’t have positions (2) Adding more ECRs into the system will cause roadblocks in a few years when there are no permanent positions

Incredibly excited to share that I have joined @sheffielduni as an Early Career Research Fellow in the Physics of Life. My lab will use and develop fancy microscopes to investigate all things actin. I will soon be recruiting a PhD student, if you are interested, get in touch!

For my planar polarity follower(s?), we have a new paper out on Fat-Dachsous. Fat-Dachsous are known to interact (signal?) in trans between cells, but we now find a second (more important!) trans-interaction suggesting new models for Fat-Ds clustering sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Can't argue with first read the Drosophila papers, but read the frog, fish and mouse ones too!
