Again, his mode of production is the main ideological compromise. But too many people have a specific, industrialized, conception of what it means to make a film.

The reality is that as long as cinema is seen as a cultural commodity produced for profit, this contradiction will exist.
Yes, you have to pay workers an ethical wage.
But does the practice of filmmaking require a worker-owner relationship to the means of production?

This all leads to some uncomfortable conversations about the operation of the film set.
We’ve been taught, through specialization, that it requires that many people and that much money to produce a film when that is simply not the case.

@studiomurdock Genuinely trying to follow. If public financing has been stripped and the only way for artist to make art, other than crowdfund, how do they make it? And the 20 mil is spread across 100s of crew members which helps people live. Build things. Pays permits. Etc. I’m just confused
