Martin Niemöller, the pastor who wrote First They Came, was a virulent antisemite but also believed you could stop being an evil Jew and redeem yourself by becoming a Christian and ended up breaking with the Nazi Party over Nazi’s not caring if Jews converted to Christianity lol

I've always felt like the whole "First They Came" poem was basically a giant cop out because Pastor Martin Niemöller wasn't just some guy who "didn't speak out" he was an active Nazi Supporter who voted for the Nazis 3 times and wrote glowing Pro-Nazi polemics about the "National Revival" that was coming with Hitler's rise Up until he felt like Hitler was coming for the Church lmao.

Doll: As an Arab American, I have to say my community has been desperate for somebody to at least name the horrors that the Palestinian people have endured with the backing of our government. Why can't that have a voice in this country? He had unflinching clarity.
He just said exactly what happened and everything he said is backed up by evidence. It has taken way too long for somebody to say exactly what's happening and call it out. It's the bare minimum.
