This morning didn’t go as planned. My husband had a stroke. The doctors think they caught it early and were able to give him the TNK medicine. My brother is with my Mom at the heart hospital next door getting her new pacemaker. What a day.

@MrStuartHartley I've been doing taxes since 1982. When my son was growing up I would always tell him 'I wish there was a flat tax. I would go work in a bookstore." He told me some ten years ago "there will never be a flat tax, and soon there won't be anymore bookstores!"

Forget CEOs eating Burgers. I want go see the CEO of Thomson Reuters complete a multi-state 1065 from scratch in UltraTaxCS.

@MrStuartHartley Went to a CPE course years ago and the instructor said if every congressman had to do their own tax return from scratch, we would soon have a much simplier tax system.

@FortWayneCPA Registered for Tax Retreat. Very excited it is in my wonderful hometown!

Everything is slowly breaking, and it is getting worse. I admittedly copied the same response into several posts as a reply. X identified me as a bot and temporarily restricted my account. I opened a couple of X help tickets and they sent me emails saying conflicting things. After about 12 days someone at X removed the restrictions on my account and I was able to get in this morning. I am glad someone at X removed the restrictions. A couple of things. Coffee is still nasty... Tax Season is coming... You better be in San Antonio June 3rd - June 6th at the next TaxRetreat...

@FortWayneCPA Best federal tax update I've attended was instructed by Vern Hoven and Ron Roberson. 2-day course. Great coverage. Heavy on update. Light on jibber jabber. Great materials. Took it several years. Vern passed in 2024. Ron teaches a course for IN CPA Society on Dec 16.

I am taking a full day tax update CPE today remotely. The instructor is just babbling and 30 minutes in he has not even started discussing the tax update. He is just rambling on and on...

@cbriancpa I went to College at Trinity University in San Antonio in 1978. Had several people back home in Chicago ask me why I chose to go to college in Mexico.

I bet these are the same Americans who don't know New Mexico is an actual state in the USA.

I have seen a lot of Bad Twitter over the years. Didn’t expect to have such an impressive new category: Mocking widows for being caught smiling Twitter. It’s just evil.

@uptonaccounting @morgancap Glad you are taking care of yourself, and easing back into work slowly. You are important.

@morgancap Yes, I’ve learned a lot about the renal diet. It goes counter to a lot of what we have been taught is healthy especially as I have to watch sodium, protein, phosphorus and potassium.

Update : I’m okay just a lot to cope with since I’m now tied to dialysis 3 days a week that cannot be missed. I’m weak but getting a little stronger each day. I’m starting back to work from home this next week. TaxTwitter and some close friends have supported me more than any family and that has also weighed heavy, you learn a lot in these situations about where you stand and who cares. Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers—keep them coming.
