Every time you consider making a key AI tool a significant part of your business ask: Would this tool still make sense if it costs 5x as much? How disruptive would it be to stop using it completely 6 months from now? People aren’t thinking about the downstream impact.

A dry cleaner ruined one of my shirts recently, and I decided not to do anything about it. Why? They would have pushed back and insisted they didn’t do it. I would have explained why they were wrong, and they would have denied it again. I would have told them I’d never come back unless they reimbursed me, and the back and forth would have continued. Frankly, dealing with that kind of conflict over a shirt that costs a couple hundred dollars isn’t worth my time or energy at this point in life. Yes, people should be held accountable, and there should be consequences for actions, and this stuff should be viewed on a case-by-case. But in this case, it was a no brainer. All downside. I’m just not going to go back. Sometimes you have to weigh the upside, pick your battles, and choose being smart over being right.

@sweatystartup You're not wrong, but you are aware that there are open source local LLMs right? Granted they suck pretty bad now, but might be a different story in a year or two.

I love this app and am a huge Elon fan, but the algo is a complete dumpster fire. It exclusively rewards comment velocity (outrage) and creators can no longer even reach their followers. 95% of my feed is slop.

#10: Money attracts talent, but respect and appreciation keep it around. If you pay well and show honest and sincere appreciation to your employees, you will win. Remember to praise them often in both public and private. It matters way more than you think.

#9 Hire 1 to hire 10. A great leader knows how to run their department and can hire and manage a team beneath them. When thinking about starting a new business or a new department/vertical, hire 1 to hire 10. Focus on finding a competent manager and let them hire the rest of the team.
