Frustrated with @SouthwestAir 😡. Can't start passwords with special characters & they cut my 24-character password to 16 without warning! Why limit security? 🚫🔑 #PasswordPain

@SouthwestAir For example - I completed the login creation with my 24 character password and went to login and got a password not recognised. No indication why. I had to figure it out for myself that you were truncating.

@SouthwestAir Truncating the password without warning me also adds friction to using a random password generator.

@SouthwestAir Thanks for your response. Not allowing first character special character is an indication that you have code that is susceptible to injection attacks imho. Plus it adds friction for using a random password generator.

@nedboulting I pick the location of my hotel in London so I can walk further to work just so I can pass LMNH. A travesty. So glad I bought my friend the hat last trip.

A mental model I have of AI is it was roughly ~linear progress from 1960s-2010, then exponential 2010-2020s, then has started to display 'compounding exponential' properties in 2021/22 onwards. In other words, next few years will yield progress that intuitively feels nuts.

@judithheumann @StAlbans_STA what an honor for STA to host you. Thank you for the terrific discussion. And as a parent, thank you for answering the boys' questions with such insight and inspiration.

Happy 7th birthday ⁦@stackhpc⁩ - in this time we’ve grown and achieved so much, but are still small enough to fit round one table (just!)

@paulg interesting. should we clarify people's 'online' character or does that delineation not matter anymore? i will admit to having a different decorum in online discussions vs offline. but both reflect my character.

A possibly useful measure of people's characters: how many of their last 100 tweets and retweets are dunks, defined as someone quote-tweeting or screenshotting another tweet in order to attack or ridicule it?

Most of us who work on heavily used systems at scale saw this one coming, and that they would propose a rewrite as they just have, and we also don’t think this is the answer. This is why hubris is a very counterproductive quality in engineering. Why do we all agree on this?
