I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you're in academia, there's a decent chance you're in a toxic workplace. There is far too much tolerance for shady behavior within academia.

Who knew that 2 poor, young, single Black moms raised in MKE, educated in the lowest-performing district in the state wld eventually join the ~2% of Black female MD PhDs in the US. Stats would’ve never given us this chance, but here we are and it’s not by chance at all p ≤ 0.05

I recently had someone tell me it’s been a bit & I should try to get over it. “It” being the death of my daughter. The one I gave birth to knowing I wouldn’t ever see her live. It’s been 2 months. TWO. Pray tell how you just get over that shit so quickly. I’m all ears.

@BellevueDoc @brit_trevor @ALMannixMD I have to agree Julie, there is very little training for medical professionals on how to cope.... Why do you think we have so many STS before and especially after Covid? We never get to process our feelings

@brit_trevor @ALMannixMD I would argue that there may have been a lot of "what to do" training, but there wasn't really much training in "how to cope" in my medical education. Has that changed?

Seeing how much the world accepts that it’s impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.
