an analysis of the medusa situation from a fellow influencer: as a crypto shrimp 🦐 you do not see the hidden, undisclosed side of twitter. you see kols shilling, but you don’t see the outreach by crypto companies in our dms or the deals we are being offered by kol agencies all of crypto is undisclosed shills as an influencer, it is a difficult choice to make: do i stay true to my values or do i make good easy money by just doing the same thing everyone else is doing? i - for instance - am already rich, so i won’t shill a random project for an additional 10k a month, which is a lot for influencer standards. most kols will shill to you for 500 - 2k usd for 1-2 posts. bit obviously i have a number too, if you pay me 250k, which is what i got in tokens for my last undisclosed shill in 2024 - i will make your project my personality for a few weeks, no problem for that much money, my due diligence is also very lenient. i just check that you are not literally a scam or rug, and then i proceed to shill your state of the art, bleeding edge L2 as if it was the solution to cancer everyone has a price an it just happens that people like medusa have a much much lower price bc they are poor, so they are willing to shill anything. it’s easy for folks with 0 influence to say they wouldn’t do undisclosed shills lemme tell you: you would. if you could choose between working a full month for 4k or doing 6 posts, you would do 6 posts. even ansem shilled random memecoins despite being rich and famous kols are just side hustlers and their niche is using their social media audience to farm projects and even though everyone knows how bad kols are, all companies still use them bc they have no choice it’s extremely valuable to have your personal brand right now, especially as ai video content has gotten very good but it’s even moe useful to be in the group chats to see the conversations and deals it opens up your eyes to how the word works an then you can exploit that instead of ruining your reputation for 2k haha
Medusa@MedusaOnchain

i messed up to everyone who trusts me and believes in me i am sorry that the project i promoted turned out to be a rug yes i was tricked and used by this project BUT ultimately it was my responsibility to do better due diligence it's a hard lesson i will remember moving forward i receive numerous deals, most I decline, but this one i should have looked closer i'm deeply sorry if anyone invested money and lost on this i see all the negative posts and the slash on ethos i will be better moving forward

A letter to my friends at Anthropic I hate that I feel obligated to do this. I hate that I've had to be so harsh towards Anthropic for the past few months. I really, really don't want to. I know it might feel like I'm doing this for clicks or something, but I promise I'm not. My pro-Anthropic content ALWAYS outperforms my anti-Anthropic content. I have cost myself a lot of money, opportunities, sponsors, and more. I'm doing this because you work for an evil cult. I'm begging you to wake up. Your CEO, Dario, does not respect engineers. This is obvious. He couldn't make it more obvious if he tried (and I think he's trying pretty hard) You know this, but you don't want to acknowledge it. It has kept you up many nights. You know that bad code is shipping to users. You know that one bad tweet might get you fired. You fear for your vesting schedules. You're afraid. Nobody deserves what you're going through right now. You go to work afraid, you leave work afraid, and you go to YouTube to keep up on the dev world, just to hear me yelling all about how evil your company is. You deserve better. You might not feel like you do, but you know deep down that this isn't right. I hope you know how deeply I feel for you. I'm sorry. I know I haven't helped you much individually, and I want to be better about this. If you're ready to leave, please hit me up. I swear I'll never tell a soul. I have friends at every lab and most startups in the AI world. Most of them would be down to match your current vesting schedules, possibly even go beyond. If you're staying for the money, I beg you to hit me up. We can make the money happen somewhere that hates you less. I know I'm asking for a lot of trust here, and that you're scared after seeing how hard I've been on Anthropic. I can't blame you at all for that. I should have posted something like this months ago. That's my failure to own and I will own it to my best ability. If you're willing to trust me in this moment, I can make it right. Let me help you escape. You deserve to work somewhere that you can have impact. Somewhere that listens when you feel something is wrong. Somewhere that won't fire you when you point out the things that hurt your users. My DMs are always open to you. When you're ready, let me know. I promise to make it right.

th ultimate constraint in life is iq we all have different preferences and career choices but in the end of the day we are all competing in the same domain living a good life there are many factors contributing to a good life including family, health, relationships, mindset, etc and one factor that is definitely in the top 5 most important factors is financial security and freedom otherwise known as YOUNG MONEY some germans cope and say "oh i don’t need money, i love my completely replacable job from 9-5 for 45 years of my life that doesn’t even allow me to buy a single house or take one year off and just focus on myself" but the importance of money is pretty universal now… there are many different ways to make money but GENERALLY your POTENTIAL income is proportional to your iq. please don’t slide onto my comments now and tell me that you know a nigga whose iq is low but he plays football and is richer than a phd friend of yours. exceptions are ample, but i am creating a mental model here for you so i need to generalise low iq jobs: - physical labor - restaurant worker - plumber, cleaner, etc mid iq jobs: - high school teacher - nurse - accountant - sales guy high iq jobs: - professor - engineer - doctor - lawyer as you can clearly see from my examples, iq is causally correlated with income potential. this does not mean that you can’t get rich if your iq is low you can overtake anyone on the general curve with a high risk appetite. atheletes are a great example. i doubt that most football stars have a high iq, but a few of them chose to dedicate their entire life to becoming the best at a highly competitive skill and a frw of them make it. they outearn 99.99% of society by taking this risk. of course there is survivorship bias bc for every christiano ronaldo you see on tv, there are millions of people who took the same risk and can’t afford anything your choice of profession matters a lot and if you are optimising for income, you should run your own business within your iq bracket an employee plumber doesn’t earn as much as a regular lawyer but a plumbing business owner earns far more than many lawyers

What do the smartest kids in the world do when they grow up? I did the largest study of ~18,000 International Olympiad medalists (IMO, IOI and IPhO) over the last 25yrs, arguably the sharpest analytical minds of the world in high school, to see where they ended up and traced ~50% of them. Founders of ~20 unicorns and ~7 decacorns and ~10 billionaires: OpenAI, Cursor, Stripe, Databricks, Perplexity, Ethereum, Cognition, Hyperliquid, Fireworks, Modal, Quora, Parallel, Cartesia, Wispr Most kids went to MIT, a whopping 12% of them, followed by Cambridge (7%) and Sharif (3%)! The career paths they chose (of those who graduated) were: — 36% Academia (professors) — 26% Other — 22% in Software / Tech — 12% in Quant / Finance — 5% Founders! The biggest employer was Google, by far, at 6%. Others interesting tidbits were: — 47 of them work at Jane Street (#3) — 38 at OpenAI (#5) — 15 at Anthropic — 8 at Cognition — 6 at Isomorphic Labs Olympiaders were 1500x more likely to be billionaires and 4000x more likely to be unicorn founders than the average person!

Flood explains what escape velocity wealth actually looks like “True escape velocity is like I can do anything, I can rent anything and I can fly private if I want to” “Like I truly have a complete abundance of just any path in the game that even the most exceptionally wealthy people in the world live” “That takes like tens of millions of dollars of post tax capital and a pretty healthy income” “The cutoff for ultra high net worth used to be like $30,000,000+ of post tax assets… I would say it’s probably a bit higher now”

Ghostty is leaving GitHub. I'm GitHub user 1299, joined Feb 2008. I've visited GitHub almost every single day for over 18 years. It's never been a question for me where I'd put my projects: always GitHub. I'm super sad to say this, but its time to go. mitchellh.com/writing/ghostt…
