I fucking love fpl. Here’s why…

Ya know, if you ignore all the statistics, the highlights, the strategy, the odd hours watching football… If you simply set your lineup, intentionally, 38 times, bet you finish top 100k

62 pts all in. 900k to 500k OR 1. WC still in hand 2. Deep bench 3. Solid fixture run Not. Panicked.

@DonieFpl This is why fpl is great if you take it as something more than a silly game. To see how you can assert some autonomy in a place where so much is out if your control. I got down to 3 mill about GW7 and got it back to < 100k. Im more proud of that than a top 10k finish..

@theFPLU The positive on it was after 9 reds - down at 430K I got back to 175K in 5 weeks by end of season so it encouraged me going into this season to eliminate those biases on certain players and not be too patient/stubborn! Thanks for asking.

@DonieFpl Thats a tough thing to navigate! Being patient is primary. Ive found that sometimes i can call it patience when its really stubbornness 😅 What did you feel was the reason you were getting so many reds? Were you missing cap? Thats such a driver…

@theFPLU Very nice mate. Love your musings, always thought provoking. For me this year FPL is about seeing if I can be more patient (I had 9 red arrows last season & I learned so much during that time) while also jumping on a few pods /spaces to contribute.

I love golf. There's a mindset hack called "stress free golf". Easier said than done of course, but the premise is simple. Don't overthink, if there's no opportunity then play it safe, prevent the catestrophic (double/triple bogeys), just make the game as stress free as possible

It's clever on the game's part to price rise early. It forces people to make decisions which keeps people engaged.

New opportunities arise all the time from injuries, illness, etc that are totally unforeseen. And those opportunities could be a better fit for your team structure than an early transfer.

Of course there are exceptional circumstances, but I would think that getting every midweek game out of the way is the priority before making a decision based on price rise.

Just some thoughts on price rises...

They're a thing. We don't REALLY know when they'll happen, but they will. I really, really, really don't like making decisions based on price rises. It forces you to make a decision before you're ready. And transfers can't be unwound

There's a difference between a player who is a bad pick and a player who shows bad value. Bruno drops to 11.9 before home AVL The player is not a bad pick in that game. May still not be bad value long term. No problem taking the -.1 for a share in that game.

Or maybe I'm full of shit and I've given the COVID fever too loud a megaphone. Anyway, FPL is cool and I had Raphina come in today and I'm ranked like 1.4MM but it's all good because I'm playing the long game and FPL is great okthankspeaceout🤙🏻

Just like woodworking or writing or painting or engine repair. And when we think about things as a craft we start to give to the exercise instead of demanding something from the exercise.
