@andrew_lilico The state also doesn't log everytime you buy alcohol and have a drink. You might have to show your id to the cashier and thats it. The government doesn't know what I buy and when I drink it.

People say "But the state restricts things for kids all the time - think of alcohol." Starmer this morning said "there will always be a point you’ll be beyond the age that is restricted, drink is another example". But under-18s aren't banned from drinking alcohol. Just buying it.
