@xewilcox I’m so sorry, Xander. You are one of the most passionate researchers I know, and it’s just sad not to see you continue. But I think that there’s no need to rush to get back. You’ve been through a lot and you should take your time to recuperate and come back even stronger.

My dad died 2 weeks ago (ALS, dx 2019). My mom was diagnosed with ALS and frontotemporal dementia and placed in memory care a week before dad died. I’m 6 years into my PhD and I don’t know if I have it in me to finish. Not sure what the point of this tweet is but here it is.

Next time you're in a room (real or virtual) with a bunch of people who you look up to, take a moment to stop, look around, and remind yourself "I belong here."

And there’s my pink Cy3-labeled oligo that I synthesized and posted about a while ago! These are actually brain cells that I transfected, stained, and viewed under a fluorescence microscope. My oligos are the pink dots against the green (cytoplasm) and blue (nucleus) background.
