Take the other perspective. Your players ankle gets twisted by a defender who had no chance to play the ball. Would you be ok if a card wasn't given because the ref decided that endangering the safety of a player was an accident?
It's a red card. Don't put your studs into him.

This is the definition incidental contact. It’s a true accident from Balogun. VAR continue to be a complete sham and are all over the place. Refs are three blind mice at all points in time. No consistency.

@iwatchbugs Actually not if you watch the build up to the foul....Balogun was stepping for the ball and the Bosnian player stepped in front. It was a football move in every sense of the word.

Just a reminder that USMNT striker Folarin Balogun received a red card after a VAR check on this challenge. Earlier in the tournament, Lionel Messi didn’t get a yellow card or even a VAR check for a similar challenge.

The game just isn't like that here quite yet. We will in the next 10-15 years. But, these guys like Poch literally study to be a manager in university-like settings for years and work their way up at major clubs. Canada's coach is American and is only two steps below this guy so that's a good start

In this case , these guys were going for a ball and it was not intentional. There is the opportunity to show a yellow when this guy swallowed his whistle all night.
