@mc1243657 We don’t need cherry picked screenshots, we all see the actual play. And again, no it could not have been a pick 6 because the CB could barely reach the ball leaving the ground with the fingertips of one hand. And he only got there because the WR ran away from the ball.

@Matty_KCSN You are just straight up lying. The WR could not have gotten between the DB and the ball here. It’s also everything the QB is told not to do. Back foot, cross body, etc. Very easily could’ve been a pick-six.

@mc1243657 Not really given the CB had to make a lunging, full extension reach to even get his fingertip to the ball… which he only did because the WR ran away from the ball rather than towards it.

@Matty_KCSN It could've easily been a pick-six? The defender is right there playing defense on it

@mc1243657 I mean that’s a pretty insane throw.. far hash, cross body without a base, taking a hit and right to the WR.

@Matty_KCSN Never going to blame the QB I guess.

@Jordan____Smith Just looking at the targeted WR.. work back to the ball even slightly. Decent route that forces the CB into recovery (which he does well w/ a lil slingshot) but you can actively see the light flash in his head that the WR is drifting & he can break straight to the ball & undercut

If undersized in the NFL, better have a trump card.. Safe to say R Mason Thomas has one w/ his snap get-off and ability to accelerate through the entire rush. Even when a blocker cuts off his angle & he's forced to beat the hands, he still accelerates into/out of the turn.

@SigmundBloom Oh, yeah I can see that especially with the finishing speed and intent of physicality at the QB

@JakeWingo @StickToTheModel I mean Conner is easily the second best S on the roster rn, he’s just bad as a slot corner. Having players like Kohou and hopefully Canady should keep out of that role which makes him vastly better overall.

@Matty_KCSN @StickToTheModel If there were only two options available, sure. Fortunately, there’s an option to not put Conner on the field unless someone is hurt. Canady should keep Conner off the field entirely. Seems that you’re much higher on Conner than I am though. Versatile, valuable backup imo.

I get the idea on the surface BUT Lost —> Replaced McDuffie —> Delane Watson —> none Cook —> Gilman Leo —> none Tillery —> Woods Danna —> Mason Thomas Nnadi —> Tonga 4 of the 7 pieces replaced were improved upon. Leo was awesome but a role player you *expect* to absorb that.

I'm going to get ahead of this Chiefs grade... The draft was solid (B grade) Now let's check in on the defense: - lost Jaylen Watson (CB) - lost Trent Mcduffie (CB) - lost Bryan Cook (S) - lost Leo Chenal (LB) That defensive secondary is verrrry suspect

@djgist No, below is the fan take (semi-blind faith players will play to their physical potential because of the coaching track record. Saying KC improved upon Tillery, Nnadi, Danna, and Cook isn’t really fan-coded.

@NQuatrocky Think there will be situations that he's missed for sure, BUT he was never really a three-down LB for KC. Maybe there's a lil more in the tank for a different team but he'll always need some role catering on passing downs.

@Matty_KCSN I think the loss of Leo will show more than people think. He should’ve been the full time LB. He also had value on special teams with his blocked FGs. Remember when Bolton was out during that stretch with an injury and our defense was better? People forget.

@DELANEISLAND He was top 20 in the entire NFL in snaps per reception allowed (top 15 in snaps per target)? Would actually say he's pretty good at NOT getting targeted, he did give up some bigger plays when targeted though.

@Matty_KCSN He wasn’t the most targeted for no reason last year, Buddy had problems with Jahan Dotson on press coverage 🥴

@JakeWingo @StickToTheModel Think Conner playing purely as a S is an improvement over Hicks subbing in at S and Conner kicking into the slot, by a pretty large margin.

@StickToTheModel @Matty_KCSN Two playable linebackers is a significant problem for me. If Conner plays over Hicks, I will riot. Also think Canady has a shot to play early as the nickel.

@StickToTheModel They certainly lost talent and have shallow positions, I just think in the overarching principle of “worst off-season” ignores the improvements they made (some proven, others realistically hypothetical) and how/why they have confidence in filling the talent gaps they did lose.

@Matty_KCSN Really liked the draft Delane - Woods - Thomas is damn good DLine and starting CB should be fine, but the back of the defense and EDGE look a bit shallow IMO
