the impending massive set of constrictions on the rights of transgender people in the world’s most populous country is something people should probably be more aware of

IMO, adhering to the framework of what is deemed "normal" by our current oppressive society is fascist. It's counterproductive to marginalized people seeking liberation, and actively harmful to those in the community who are not deemed "normal" by society.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat Wow. So basically you think we brought this upon ourselves? That is so ridiculous and offensive. Identity politics is not why we're being oppressed or why it's ramping up.

@tinybird420 @TrisGreat yeah I am one of the only people who actively progresses positive substantive legal change, One cannot exist without the other, When it all evolves into identity politics you get exactly what we're experiencing federally right now.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat I don't think we're gonna get anywhere with this argument TBH. I think "model minority" is not useless in the long run but actively harmful to people in the community, trans women especially. It's troubling that you claim to fight for us yet believe in this regressive mindset.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat I'm not talking about "spaces predicated on identity". I'm talking about people identifying as something that they see as weird. Like non binary people for example. A lot of harmful people in the community think they are ridiculous and make us all look bad.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat This type of "model minority" mindset is what leads some in the trans community to harass other trans people for "identifying in a weird way and giving us all a bad look.".

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat If someone experiences discomfort at how I dress though that's *their* problem. Not mine. It's something that they have to get over. Or they don't get over it and that mindset becomes dominant enough to become a law. See where I'm going with this?

I don't know I just see it as courtesy, the same way that I wouldn't like it if somebody sat in the seat directly next to me on public transit when there are other open ones I just think it's nice if people can go about their day without having to really actively experience discomfort And broadly speaking I'm pretty sure if everybody had access to perfect instant medical care they're like likely wouldn't be many trans people who would need to change much idk

i've read this and that's not exactly true, it really just depends on infiltrating positions of authority, you have to make a compelling argument to get people to vote in a particular way, It's why when it comes to advocacy it is always more effective to talk about gender dysphoria being irreversible and otherwise untreatable, rather than focusing on arbitrary self-determination. Because in general your average person has like soup for brains and cannot make informed decisions very well and you have to like compel them into a position, Which I've personally gotten rather good at, I had like a whole routine with it that had like around 60% success rate turning passivly transphobic moderates/libertarians into staunch allies who, even if sometimes uninformed and using improper language, would actively talk to people they know about it, vote positively and even in some cases actively and aggressively attack actual bigots. These are the same people that the type of person who negatively comments in the post that I made would kind of just blanket call a bigot and be mean to, which is specifically what I avoid doing in order to positively pull them over to my side. and I have a track record to prove that this works, I'm one of the main people who got Michigan HB 5300 and HB5303 to pass, it took hundreds of hours of lobbying and advocacy but it worked. it worked in a state that voted for Trump.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat IDK I think this is a harmful mindset to have tbh. Harmful to oneself and others. You shouldn't care about making people uncomfortable when you're not actually harming them. Trans people existing makes tons of people uncomfortable, it doesn't matter what they think though.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat You should read Stamped From The Beginning. It talks about how the "model minority" mindset didn't work for the black community. It doesn't work for any marginalized group. When the oppressive system is still in place they'll hate you no matter what you do.

that's not to say that there aren't problems suffering from being a model minority I just think that generally speaking it is a more efficient path to advocate on this front. The same way that in terms of feminism I think that while internally we should all strive for equality, I think that externally it is more viable to strive for woman/female supremacy/separation so that the capitulations between the two points of advocacy are equal equality rather than one side advocating for patriarchal superiority and the other side striving for equality, lead leading to an end state that is always some degree of inequality Because the average liberal voter of any background will normally assume that common ground of two "extremes" is the ideal.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat pushing the balls up into the canals which is yikesey as fuck imo and it can cause health issues. People like that shouldn't be barred from wearing certain clothes. I personally tuck because I want to but it should never be a social requirement. /2

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat Yeah I mean just imagine you're a woman with a girldick that doesn't have bottom dysphoria, (I do have bottom dysphoria but there are many who don't.), you don't always wanna have to do the work to tuck. It requires very specific underwear, or you have to do a whole thing of /1

@erydactyl_2 I've noticed that as well. The "omg blue haired feminists!!!111" mindset seems to no longer be thriving. Apparently more right wing people are getting colored hair too.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat You can dress in all the right ways, say the right things, identify the right way, and they'll still hate you. Giving in to optics is a fruitless endeavor as it has been for every marginalized group.

@nerdgirlowo @TrisGreat I don't where my line is but it's pretty high. I don't concern myself with how other people dress or what they show off. I also don't care about optics, most BS shit alive. As a trans women in current society you can be as perfect as ever and you'll still receive hate.
