On this day in 1989 I grabbed the video cassette containing all the famous pictures of the Tiananmen massacre inc the tank man & walked down to the Beijing Hotel lobby. A cop came over to arrest me but a burst of fire outside distracted him & I slipped past. We got the pictures out via Hong Kong.

Someone has to say it: Elon Musk has lied for 27 years about his credentials. He does not have a BS in Physics, or any technical field. Did not get into a PhD program. Dropped out in 1995 & was illegal. Later, investors quietly arranged a diploma - but not in science. 🧵1/

Seems to me that all the benefit of the doubt Elon Musk received from media, from so-called thought leaders, from corporate America, comes from a society that doesn't see racism, sexism as signs of flawed character or judgment, but instead as sort of normal and besides the point.

@pauldarcey This day 1 purchasing idiocy was a lot more joyful when I would simply wait outside an Apple Store in the rain for a night.

@tmaes I ended up with two identical orders, because the first one told me Apple Pay had timed out and to try again. So I did, but the first one *had* gone through. Huge amount of stress deciding whether it was safe to cancel the second order, but it seems to have worked out

@radiantav Not quite. One has a cracked screen, the other a badly dinged up back. So it all worked out for this picture 😄

@mpospese Ah yeah it’s pretty nuts. Cameras keep getting bulked up. My jeans pockets have lense island indentations now.
