Maybe designers fought hard and management didn’t listened to them. But if not and if they are honestly proud of their work, they should reconsider their career choices for the sake of users. I would consider resigning even as a developer after building this monstrosity

I think this is what really happened. Designers worked in vacuum with their glasses on white sheets and pretty abstract colorful visuals. Anything but real content, real apps. I’m not even talking about the macOS’s bizarre look. #wwdc25

As of every year Apple again throws readability away. New design language brings too much visual clutter with glass refraction effects and aggressive border highlights and extreme transparency. Such a big disappointment. Although its not a surprise. #wwdc25

@nilostolte @chessMan786 For example this is how you define a generic LinkedList. And how to translate UnsafeStruct from C to Zig. Btw there is no problem placing the buffer after the function pointer, zig does automatic boundary checking for debug and release-safe builds.

@umurgdk @chessMan786 That's a standard example for linked lists in Zig. It's not good or bad. Linked lists aren't a thing anymore except in rare cases. So, this example is just to illustrate how you do "typedef" in Zig, nothing more.

@nilostolte @chessMan786 This is a bad zig example. []T already has length associated with a pointer. CharList = []u8; but preferably there is no need for a CharList declaration at all, []u8 is enough.

@chessMan786 Why do this if you can use Zig? To me that would be the real question. In Zig, typedefs don't exist. In your particular case you can define a function inside a struct. In other cases you can redefine types using comptime functions in variable declarations:

I'd say instead: "why doing this when you can define functions inside structs in Zig"? The good news for C programmers is that they can mix C source code in their Zig programs, since Zig has an embedded C compiler. Notwithstanding, new code should be preferably written in Zig.

The Odin book I'm writing is supposed to be easy to navigate on a desktop.
I've made an Odin program that takes Markdown and outputs a single .html file with all images and fonts baked in. It's portable like a PDF, but actually nice to use on a desktop!
