@DarraghScott @GillwallyO @JerryMoloney1 I don't set the price in the mart, I just bring the calves down. Other years you hoped for the best. I have to buy calved cows this year should these prices be capped aswell. For the good intentions it's not reality

Forage rye absolutely bolting out of the ground, still about 3 weeks away from cutting. Pit will do well to hold all of it! Pigtail post for a height reference for any livestock farmers 👌 slurry at sowing and 25units of urea this spring.

6th year milking finished. Don’t think I can call myself a new entrant anymore. New diet feeder put to use today also 😅

@chakilleen Just wondering is it not worth milking the later calving cows closer to Christmas or are they drying themselves off? See a few others fully dry now,March calvers surely milk on a week or two?

Been a serious 2 months for the forage rye. This went into Wheat stubble on Sep 13th. Grown a lot more than expected, large % of it lying. Qs is to graze it now & lighten it off or leave it grow on untouched? We haven't grazed it before but always had lower covers at this stage
