Finally getting back to some reseeding. Was hoping to have it sown nearly a week at this stage but weather didn't really play ball. First run of the disc done. Will give it a 2nd run before sowing after it dries out a bit.

Slurry in full flow here these days, making use of the break between the spills of rain to get some out with slurryquips flexible trailing shoe system. Hopefully help grow a decent 2nd cut and won't leave too much residue in lines 🤞🤞

@jeomaher Did you flush one of your own or buy embryo's? Seriously thinking about flushing some of our best cows and implant into Hfrs

@CallansCows Paddy Buckley does ivf here. Have 18 embryos gone in 17 into heifers and one into a first calver. Going by collar cow has held, going on observation 4 heifers have repeated 4 with some queries and 9 fairly sure have passed. Scanning in 3 weeks to confirm.

For those doing ET out there who are you using? IVF or conventional in cow methods? Pregnancy rates etc?

@jhealyq Did you put those eggs into Hfrs or cows? Good return if you could keep those numbers

@GreenRForest The Irish government is not too friendly here either. Not listening to the majority of people. Everyone is running faster to stay in the same place.

@CallansCows Real dedication. Hate seeing UK policy undercut farming families who keep us going 🌾

Always seems to be one job to the next, Maize all sown, grass in full flight, about a week behind schedule but couldn't pass up the opportunity to get all the Maize in the ground.

@AidanAidanmc To be fair I've a lot of experience with both Nedap and Sensehub from my days with Lely and tbf we didn't have much issues outside of old tags starting to fail. Biggest challenge can be having them downloading from the field depending on farm size, herd size and hills etc

@CallansCows Collars are great when they work. But there’s lots of times for what ever reason that they don’t. Incredibly frustrating at this time of year when they fail 🤯🤯🤯🤯

The guessing game continues 🙈 3 week repeats on the cows in full swing, collars are definitely on the wish list. Save some hassle and not to mention a lot less bulls needed about the place 🙈 13/17 bulls in available ,4 out with physio orders🙄

@CallansCows Only installed collars here 2 weeks ago and already they are starting to show alerts and helping with the ever increasing demands of the breeding season

@TrevorFarrell12 No just ID collars. When we put robots in 10years ago we had a bad experience of collars prior to that. After working with them for 7/8 years I'd advise anyone to go with them. Heats are only a part of their benefit tbh.

@SeanMoy98947674 That's not the issue. Plenty of size for the cows. 2 of the ones out of action are from heifers too. We fatten a lot of our own calves so bull quality is high enough on our list of priorities

@AlanBurton12 @1noeloconnor The pens we have its basically every 2 weeks they get cleaned out. Once calves get past the 6-8week stage they need 3 goes of bedding in 2 weeks

Average weight 140kg on the dot. Very happy with the group so far. 7-8kg heavier than last years calves. They'll stay put here for a couple weeks to let rumens develop up fully before heading to grass, should keep workload down and avoid any upsets to the calves 🤞

@AlanBurton12 @1noeloconnor Not experienced any issues for the few years we're at it anyway. Try to keep a good bed under them our routine is to clean out every second bedding so never a build up for young calves. Probably helps us that way
