I do find it slightly inconvenient when I travel to northern France to have to clamber all those bodies they couldn’t be bothered to bury after two world wars. I asked a local and he just gave a Gallic shrug and said “What’s the point?”

After 9/11 I had European friends confused that we would spend time, money and effort digging up the bodies at Ground Zero. What's the point, they said. But it's what Americans (and, ahem, Israelis) do. We love life, we care about our dead, and we don't leave anyone behind.

THEY KNEW: Miss Weir married while she was working in Rotherham and became Mrs Gladman. During her investigations she was threatened by police and Council officers. If they would say this to a Home Office investigator, then imagine what they were saying to 12 year old victims?

THEY KNEW: Senior police officers berated Ms Weir in front of witnesses, she was sent on a diversity course. Her office was broken into and files were destroyed and altered. She was ordered to change her reports. The rapists Weir reported were finally convicted 14 years later.

Only the clinically insane would allow an admitted murderer to walk free after just two weeks in jail then turn around and reward him with a graduation, a path to college, and over half a million dollars in donations - all before he is eventually convicted and sent to prison where he belongs. That’s not compassion. That’s moral collapse.

Teachers are getting deepfake nudes made of them, and boys are making jokes about raping girls in schools. And the people who are supposed to be raising these children don’t care. They say it’s the teachers’ fault. “Parents have told me if I can’t handle teenage boys then I need to ‘work in a fucking nursery’.” How do we expect to fight the algorithms radicalising them, or the AI technology that makes harassment so easy and disproportionately affects women, if the actual humans caring for these children don’t also act? Downstream of this are censorious laws like the Online Safety Act, if parents abdicate responsibility to the state. If these are the sons being raised, the fathers should be ashamed.
