Gonna design and code all the front-end of my website without involving any frameworks, not even AI. I'm not against frameworks, but this will be a good revision of the basics. Stay tuned for updates.

@denicmarko I'm not sure what one should learn, but most stuff I work with is around and about PHP, JS/TS, CSS, and Kotlin. Frameworks/tooling I use the most: - WordPress - Laravel - Sveltekit - Vite - Supabase/Firebase/PostgreSQL - Sass - Tailwind CSS - Android Studio - Tailwind CSS

Developers who are working, can you share all the tech you actually use? Let's give newbies a realistic overview of what they should learn.

Was a bit tired of the old Gulp task running setup on my WordPress development workflow. Replaced it with a Node-based setup, and things look much more interesting now.

@denicmarko There's a category of users who leave immediately if the destination site doesn't support dark mode.

Unpopular opinion: light mode converts better.

Struggling with the design as usual, but I'll settle for whatever feels right in the moment. No chasing perfections this time, not gonna feel bad looking at the top notch designs.

Seeing fewer talks about CSS preprocessors makes me wonder if everyone has shifted to Tailwind CSS and frameworks based on it. I also switched to Tailwind CSS mainly for the time it saves, but I still use Sass in some of my workflows. Are you like me?

@jovial_cynic It's indeed a habit that becomes second nature with time. Focusing only on the negative stuff makes you a negative person. Better shift focus. Well said Josh.

Negativity is a habit. It often starts on the morning drive to work, where all you notice are the “idiots” on the road. Perhaps it’s better to look for all the great drivers and cheer them on. Maybe someone in another car is cheering you on.

@jovial_cynic Wise words, Josh. I vaguely remember that you yourself are an archer. I may be wrong too.

The Archer’s Paradox: Only so much of archery is strength and precision and patience and focus. The rest is simply… letting go. We don’t shoot arrows. We release them.

We went from doubting our design skills and impostor syndrome to doubting whether we'll even be around to do those designs next year. Don't worry, it's normal. And we will be.

UI thing I learned recently: Shadows alone don't make much sense in dark mode. Pair them with lighter background colors to portray layers more clearly.

@faydesignsstuff #2 and #3 will look great in both light and dark modes.
