My favorite part about gerrymandering is that Democrats have to draw long tentacles running away from cities, whereas Republicans just create large shapes

@JustinWStapley That was the intent, but we now know that's not what happens. The EC favors swing states.

Under the Electoral College, the President is elected by the states and it is the states who choose to run popular elections to select electors. This is actually an integral part of the longevity of the union, because the great compromise ensures that small states are not subsumed by a national policy driven be the population advantage of large states. Remove this framework and why would a state like Wyoming stick around and be dictated to by a government that only represents the coastal enclaves?

@CR_RefBapt @DreamAmerica_ The United States is technically a constitutional federal representative democracy, often described as a democratic republic.

Democrats are at a crossroads, Either: 1. Somalis, Mexicans, and Indians built America or 2. America was founded as a white supremacist country Both cannot simultaneously be true. If you spend more than 5 seconds thinking about it, it is obvious neither are true.

If abortion is "playing God," so is chemo, insulin, and C-sections. Funny how only women's medical choices get called sacrilegious.

This week has been cataclysmic for Indians. Each day we learned of a new, very avoidable way to die and now it’s capped off by some scammer trying to MeToo his boss. There is no recovery from here.

@Luke__1_ @HomelanderPepe @_6signxxx Donuts have inelastic demand and would not create the linear increase in sales you are implying. Consumers would not be readily moved at scale by lowering the price of a glazed donut to 75 cents.

@HomelanderPepe @_6signxxx I’m sure if they cut the prices by 50% they would sell much more and make more money

France made this wastefulness illegal cause it’s cruel and only causes more waste issues. Any food market or restaurant over 400 square meters has to donate all their good unsold food to charities and are fined if they do anything like this. That law should be applied everywhere

After private equity took over Krispy Kreme, a dozen donuts hit $22. Unsold ones go straight in the trash instead of being sold cheaper.

This cost them about $1 trillion. The truth is, you cannot build systems like this exclusively on the logic of profit. You cannot expect to break even in 20 or 30 years. Projects of this scale are built because the government decides they must exist to serve the people. And this is a problem with systems that are strictly, or overwhelmingly, capitalist. If you leave every problem in your society to the spontaneity of the market, some challenges are so large and so unprofitable that you will never have sufficient incentive to solve them.

@DefiantLs Iranian Regime bragged it had enough nuclear material for 11 nuclear weapons . . & Philly is 5th on the List of likely Targets, right behind: D. C. NY City LA Chicago Houston Philly But since I don’t live in any of them, I’m not concerned about Iran firing off nuclear weapons.

@ObsidiusOne @Save_Me_Elon @admcrlsn “Did it better” lol My man, ICE under Trump is extremely comparable to Obama. The main difference is in obstruction and ICE was then free to do their jobs. The media didn’t cover it simply because it was business as usual. No one died because no hysteria was raised.

I hope this goes without saying, but any Democrat that runs for president in 2028 who does not include aggressive Supreme Court reform of some kind should not be taken seriously.
